Iochroma finally bloomed. But.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

I guess I must have been expecting something more.
Perhaps I'm being too quick to judge, but based on the
Plant Files images, I guess I was expecting literal
showers of trumpet shaped blooms.

Hmm.

These blooms seem rather short, and though they
are cute, not what I expected. Am I being too harsh
on the little fella?

One more question. Is it correctly identified?

Many thanks,
Karen Marie

Another shot of what was labeled Iochroma Australe.

I feel your pain. Young Iochroma Australe only put out a few blooms to begin with. You will have more later, but they aren't going to come in flushes of hundreds.
I think that many folks who collect Brugmansia see this fellow as a cure for Blue Brug angst. Something to tide us over until the truly blue Brugmansia becomes reality.
If these blue bells were about 4 inches long and about three inches in diameter, our thirst for blue Brugs would be somewhat quenched.
Until then...these tiny bells will have to do. :-)

Ah. That sounds good to me.

I'll give it a bit longer to please. It just reminds me of Shoo Fly, which I have
more than enough of each season.

My problem with them was they are so floppy till they get much older. Took up too much room so I dug them up. I had one I was training as a standard. I should have kept it! I have seen trees of them around here and they can get covered in bloom clusters.
