White bugs on my hibiscus?? nothing in bug files looks like it.
anyone know of any small little bugs that invade hibiscus?

sorry no pic, they are so small my camera wont get that close to see it.

Kinda look like woodlice but pure white and really small , you'd hardly notice them.

Probably thrips. Hibiscus buds are like mother's milk to them.
Spray with a mix of one tablespoon, clear Ivory dishwashing soap to a full Miracle Grow sprayer of water. Do this on a daily basis until the thrips are gone.

HI Kyle, have you ever tried the worm castings? I have successfully used them for years on my hardy hibiscus and gardenias and this year I both top dressed and incorporated them into the mix on my tropical hibs in containers. No whiteflies or any type of scale this year at all. It is possible I was just lucky but....... ????

I saw where HVH has done some studies on worm castings and they are big proponents of using them.

They look like mealybugs, a kind of scales. As Kyle said, hard to eliminate. They are very common here in Europe. I use a brush and methanol (mehtyl alcohol) each time I see one. By now, we only have them in orchids not in hibiscus plants.

they are mealybugs. Like Carlo's said I just use 70% rubbing alchohol and a tiny paint brush(artist Type) and swab them. kills em quick but DO NOT use any alchohol stronger than 70% it will burn them. Less than 70% may not kill them.

Or q-tips work too if you don't have paint brushes.

Ardesia where are you getting your worm castings? I'm about to order 20 lbs off the net. I stopped by Walterboro Feed n Seed and they don't have any but will probably order some since I have them the poop on hibiscus and worm castings. LOL
