*Pant* *huff* *squeal* GUESS WHAT I HAVE???

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Okay, those of you who have been growing Brugs for years
will likely think I'm a total dork, but I'm so excited!

My Iochroma Australe has buds!

Recently I posted it was not looking so well. Then I
watered it and have misted it several times a day since
then, and now it has buds all over it. It's hard to see the
one tiny bud in this picture, lol.

By the way, I could not find the Io. in the plant files until
I searched Acnistus australis, which is listed as having a
synonym of Iochroma australe and Dunalia australis.
For those of you growing this, may I ask which name you
find most often?

(squealing with delight as I run back to look at it again)

awsome mine all wilted to nothing with the mites and the texas heat but now in the green house they are coming back to life and a few have put out a couple of little blooms. Congratulations once again

Wuvie I believe Iochroma australe is now the correct name. Most plants that used to be called Acnistus have been moved to other groups and as far as I can make out only Mexican A. arborescens is correctly an Acnistus now.

If you google images of Acnistus arborescens you find some pics of I. australe. These are just wrong....

So evidently I. australe still goes around with several incorrect names!

Congratualtions! That is very exciting!

How old is your iochroma? And how high? Is it in a greenhouse or under lights? My dormant ones (in the dark, in the bulkhead with the brug & others) are about 7 months old. They're decent sized, about 18 inches+. I'm hoping that when they wake up they'll bloom. Did you notice any particular growth (like the brug "Y") or anything tell tale?

Thanks for sharing. And be sure to post a pic on the big bloom day!
