Dont laugh!! I know I look like a munchkin!! This is my hindu rope which i've been growing for a little over 6 years.
It started out in a 6" basket and began growing like crazy once I brought it home. It bloomed within the first 6 months after I bought it and it's almost never been without blooms since. In fact it had as many as 40 clusters of flowers open at one time this summer.
You cant really tell from the pic but the overall length of this plant is right at 9ft. It hangs from the rafter of my 10ft high gh and it is only about a half ft from touching the ground.
You also dont get a full view of the entire plant in my pic as there is as much of it behind me as you see beside and in front of me.
The gh to my left with the black shade cloth is my hoya house. The one to my right is the cacti house and if you look directly behind me you will see blackshade cloth which is covering my tropicals house.

Holy Hoya, Batman - that's one big hoya!! Karen
This is one of those Exotic Angel baskets that oyu can buy form any of the big box stores. Mine came from Lowes and i've had it I guess around 6 years now.
Never ever did I expect it to take off growing like it did and it never crossed my mind thta I w ould see flowers on it within a year of bringing it home. My grandma had one as I was growing up and I seem to remember her having it for a very long time before it ever bloomed.
The first 2 years I had this plant,I didnt have any of my gh's yet so it stayed in my bedroom close to the window. When it came into bloom i'd always move it to the living room or hang it in front of a window in the kitchen because I cant stand the way the flowers smell on this hoya.
It's a very reliable bloomer for me and starts early spring and goes right on blooming until ,well I dont know when until is because it's had flowers open as recently as just a few weeks ago. And it's had as many as 40 or more clusters of flowers open on it each time it bloomed. I counted 40 something spurs on it and when I had it down yesterday for the pic I noticed new ones forming all over it.
I've been very surprised by and pleased with the amount of new growth that all of my hoyas have put on this year, but if I could just get them all to this size it would make me one happy camper.
I've got a plant of silver pink and another that I think might be crimson queen that are equally as big as this rope and if davidcummingii doesnt slow down it wont be long before he's right up there with them.
Sara for cell phone pics they arent really that bad. These are being made with my razor. The phone I had before was a Sony Ericsson T637 and it took decent quality pics as well but when I sent them to my computer they were very small. I am still a bit computer retarded and dont know how to resize pics and stuff.
With this razor phone when I send pics to the computer they are full sized already so nothing else to do but save them and attach when needed.
Dawn you think it's big you should feel how heavy it is. I kept telling the picture taker stop being so picky about it and hurry up and take the picture this thing is heavy. I had blood clots in my left arm 7 years ago and it still gives me problems pain wise if and when I hold too much weight for too long with it.
I've had a few people to ask me why I dont chop this plant up and make new ones for sale. Well one reason is because you can go into any HD,lowes or walmart and buy them any day of the year in this area. Some of the local grocers even have them for sale.Second reason is because it took me a while to get this plant to this size and you just dont see or get them this big overnight.
Anyone who comes here to see my plants and wants this one I always send them to one of those stores, cause I aint cuttin this one!!!
dmichael
You had me going there, dm. - A camera in a razor??? What will they do next....toothbrush? See how 'out of the loop" I am?
Oh my - I am laughing so hard I have tears at "camera in a razor"!!
Beautiful plant, also, DM, and I don't blame you for not cutting it.
Sharon
Sorry! I see now Carol how the way I worded that could be confusing!! My new cell phone is a motorolla razor. The very thin flip type phone.
dmichael
Well...it could be next in the virtual reality craze. Who would have thought phones would have cameras? I am looking forward to my next dental filling being my connection with the Universe!!!
You'd be quite surprised at where you can find cameras at these days. When and if you ever get that feeling that someone might be watching you. Chances are that they really are!!
dmichael
David, luv your new hairdo! I don't blame you for not wanting to cut it.
:) Donna
