I have one AV in bloom, don't have a clue of the ID .... I think it was an Optimara, but I checked their website and cannot figure out which one it is. I only have about 10 AV's .... all Noids! But, I love them anyway!

Oh ..... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I finally have a name for one of my babies!
I don't know how long I've had this one .... must have purchased it sometime this year though as I see on the Optimara site that it was introduced in 2006! I know I bought it at Wal-Mart .... that's where the few I have were all purchased! I think Wal-Mart always charges about $2.98 or something around there for AV's. Whenever I'm in there and see one blooming that I think is pretty, it just seems to jump right in my cart! LOL I will have to see if I can get the others to bloom now, I am going to put them all under lights ... and be a good "AV Mommy" and feed them! And, I am NEVER discarding a name tag on any plant again! LOL
It should be fun as the other's bloom, trying to Identify them! I'm sure I will probably have to post a photo of each to get some help from all you great AV folks here!
Thanks again!
Lin
Edited to say: Av's at Wal-Mart will have the oval Optimara sticker on the pot, but no name - it says to go to Optimara.com to find the name!

Lin I think I got my first Annabelle last Feb ??? But it's been out longer than that. It says Selectivegardners was the oly one xclusive to them selling it. But Hirt's Gardens sells it and Isabelle also from the Southern Belle collection with pink bells for $5.99 each or both for $11.99. When I bought mine it was on special I think $12.99 then they were seling it now I think $15.00. If in the Spring I get a new Annabelle and Isabelle I will buy it from the vendor for $11.99 . His also come in 4 inch pots in full bloom !
Lin you sure got a great deal ! Can you see how her foliage is so different than other Optimara pants ? Beautiful plant I'm so happy for you ! I love bell flowers !
OOOHhhhhhh I love it! That is really pretty, I love the blooms and the foliage.
Beautiful well grown plant ! Love your Optimara Southern Belle Annabelle Lin !
Congratulation Lin wonderful Photo of the day :))
I agree with everyone. It is Annabell. The leaves are a dead give away. Don't you just love her. Mine is just starting to bud again. I have never seen leaves like these. Isabel has the same leaf.
beautiful!
Yes her foliage is so different and oh I will never stop loving her bells ! Super great buy ! WOW
Hhe :)) I was just thinking Lin no longer a noid :))
Sweet beautiful Annabelle !
Oh Allison ... I hadn't even thought of that, no longer a noid! And, I love the name Annabelle .... very fitting for this sweet violet!
Lin
When you can or in Spring put down a couple leaves :)) I could have a home full of Annabells blooming. I have one small plant left of her ! But I have no lights anymore and it has been cloudy , damp and dark all week. Hoping for some sun soon ! Though our outdoor garden beds look happy their getting some Sprinkles here and there !
Selective gardners I think sell leaves of her two for $8.00 last I looked.
I have a couple of pots of leaves that are sprouting new little baby plantlets, and I think some of them may be "Annabelle" leaves, but I'm not real sure. I will keep an eye on them to see. I will also take some leaves from her and label them, so I will know for sure!
Lin
That's great Lin ! So much fun ! The best time to put leaves down is in Spring. They will root and grow babies best then. You can put them down anytime of the year just during cold months a lot of people use heat mats . They also can take longer.
Could Winters ago well between Nov, - and Feb. I bought like 500 leaves from Fay and from Blooming Jungle I think it was, plus trades and other places. The leaves final did give me wonderous amounts of babies but they took much longer.
Hey Allison:
I put down some leaves (just two little pots) one pot about 6-8 weeks ago and they have babie plantlet's growing already. The second pot I just put a couple of leaves in about 3 weeks ago, but I think they've taken root already ... if I give a little tug there seems to be a little resistance there, which makes me believe there must be roots. I hope they survive and maybe bloom so I can ID them. Where do you get these heat mats I hear folks talking about? I've never tried that before, but I'm assuming it would help keep them warm and maybe speed up the propagation a bit.
Thanks,
Lin
I'm not sure about where to buy heat mats though I know Deb and I think Jill might be able to help you with them. I think there are links in our Stickys !
I have never used them. But Lin sounds like yours are doing so good
you most likly don't need them ??
It is going to 78 here today but mostly cloudy. The past week has been dull, dark, cloudy, cold and damp. Tomorrow were looking forward to a Sunny 80 degree day !
How's your weather ?
Allison: Sounds like you've had the same weather over on the West Side that we've been having on the East Coast. On Thursday, we got a good bit of much needed rain. It was cloudy and overcast all day yesterday, but no more rain. Today is overcast and a bit breezy, and our high is supposed to be 75 .... by Monday back up to right at 80. I really feel bad for some of those folks up north having all that snow, ice and freezing temperatures! We are lucky to be living in Florida. We could still use much more rain over here .... we're way below normal!
Lin
We are lucky and our weather sure has been the same ! We did get some much need rain and garden beds have been so happy. I put down about 20 little Purple Leaf Shammrock carrot bulbs down less than a wek ago in a fw places in our gardens and their coming up so happy and pretty ! I think I'll have Hubby plant some Morning Glory seeds :)) Everything is looking good !
Lin I fount a thread with links in Plumeira forum for heat mats :))
