Does this mean you will have a cold day tomorrow ? When growing up and when we lived up North in New England States and Maine when the moon had this glow like around it we knew it was going to snow.

Lovely! It was pretty here too, but I was racing the sunset trying to get my last few bulbs planted (why I didn't start just a little sooner, I don't know)... I didn't quite get them all in, but hopefully the rain shower forecasted for the morning won't amount to much. Actually, it was checking the forecast and seeing the rain shower that had me suddenly heading out with my trowel... LOL!

It's supposed to be mild here through the weekend... highs in the 50's, lows above freezing... Too many holiday preparations going on here, but I know I need to get some mulch put down!

Red skys in the morning a sailors warning. Red skys at night a shepherd's delight. I guess I am a shepherd at heart.

LOL... My 8th grade english teacher always insisted that the saying was "Red skies at night, sailors' plight / Red skies in the morning, sailors' adjourning"... but I think she was just messing with us.

In the movie, The Burbs, the kid says "Red sky in morning, sailor take warning. [Red sky at night], sailor take flight." Boy, that movie used to be so cool. ; )

Nanna you sure did get an excellent photo !
I did a search and came up with a few things :)) Very interesting.
Everyday Mysteries !
Is the old adage “Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky in morning, sailor’s warning” true, or is it just an old wives’ tale?
WOW and I thought red sky meant cold day . Little do I know.
Red sky at night, sailors delight.
When we see a red sky at night, this means that the setting sun is sending its light through a high concentration of dust particles. This usually indicates high pressure and stable air coming in from the west. Basically good weather will follow.
Red sky in morning, sailor’s warning.
A red sunrise reflects the dust particles of a system that has just passed from the west. This indicates that a storm system may be moving to the east. If the morning sky is a deep fiery red, it means a high water content in the atmosphere. So, rain is on its way.

The picture is from our west window in the family room. Every night there is a sunset I sit in the chair and drink in the beauties of creation.
