I just wanted to share this with the rest of you. This is the first flowering of Texas Zebra hybridized by Dale Martens. Isn't she a beauty!!

Snowrose - I thought I got this plant as a baby from you, but I just checked my records and it came from Bonnie!
The plant is now 6" tall and the flowers are 2"long by about 3/4". Ugly Girl is going to bloom for the first time also and I will add pictures when she does. That plant and flowers are about the same size. I think it would be fun to try and cross the two.
Have you tried it Bonnie? I am not having success in hybridizing the sinningia. I am using the expandable peat discs just like I do when hybridizing violets, but nothing is germinating. I would like to know how some of you are growing your sinns from seed.

Snowrose -
We were going to do a chimera trade in the spring. I think you wanted Satin 'n' Lace and something else. Can you refresh my memory? I am making up my spring trade list and don't want to forget anything (like I already have!)

That's a spectacular bloom! I love the markings... and it sounds like the flowers are just huge, to boot!
Simply gorgeous.
Beautiful plant !
That is stunning. What a beautiful plant. Makes me happy to look at it because I just love to see pretty flowers.

Wow...I love that color! ; )
The foliage is really unique too ! Well grown plant ! Just amazing flowers :)) WOW Thanks for sharing !
very nice - I quite like the "larger" mini Sinningias so that sounds perfect.
Beautiful!
Hi Snowrose;
Yes she's a real beauty,this sinningia is larger than a mini, maybe gets to about 6 in. including the pot, grows kind of wide.Very hardy & a beautiful bloom.Hybridizing sinns is really quite easy.take 1 flower off the stem for pollen, cut the flower to expose the pollen, i then take a tooth pic & scratch it onto the pistal of another plant.thats it.I sow my seed in strained av soil thats dampened very well, sprinkle the seed on top, do not cover the seed with soil & cover, should have seedlings in about a week.pick up the seedlings after a few days & move them or just pic them up & drop them back down & believe it or not they grow much faster.Do that every week & watch how fast they grow.Sounds like your doing the right thing on these sinns as they are blooming for you.Wait till spring & we will have alot more.
