Pretty new violet

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I bought this from Lowe's earlier tonight. It is huge. I have it turned sideways because when I went to take it out of the car a couple of the leaves got broken off. But not to worry because they will grow back. Anyway, this one is really huge, it is in a 5" pot. It came from Optimara. Anyone know what it is called?

I don't know what it's called, Jesse, but it sure is a beauty!

It's gorgeous, Jesse. I hope you potted those leaves.

Jesse, you find the most beautiful plants at Lowe's. My best guess is "looks like" Rhapsody Cora. There is more blue than usual but the leaves really look like the rhapsody series. You never know, thought, there are so many that look like eachother. What a find!

I agree with Nanna it iooks a lot like R.Cora. Beautiful.

JESSE BEAUTIFUL ! OOPPS SORRY KEYBOARD CRAZY. LOL Was it the only one ! WOW buy more :)) Your Lucky !
My number one pick is it looks like Optimara Paris :)) One of Optimara large growing 6 inch poted plants !
http://www.optimara.com/optimarafieldguide/varietiesm-z/paris.html
or First Class
Optimara Paris (8333) 12/14/1995 (Holtkamp) Double purple/white edge. Dark green, pointed, hairy/red back. Large
If not I think your foliage looks serrated ?
Maybe
Optimara Berlin (7912) 07/06/1993 (Holtkamp) Semidouble blue star/white frilled edge. Medium green, ovate, glossy, hairy, wavy, serrated. Large
Rhapsodie Cora is not large growing. Look at the two pictures of this plant in FC big difference.
Rhapsodie series only has two large growing plants . one is ; Rhapsodie Pamela (6988) 11/19/1988 (Holtkamp) Single bright burgundy-purple. Medium green, heart-shaped, hairy. Large
and the other is;
Rhapsodie Sophia (Holtkamp) Single pink frilled. Large

Did it say Optimara on pot ? Most likly one of Optimara's 6 inch pots large growing plants ! Or Space Baby plant !
Do you have close up of bloom please ?
You do find and have the most beautiful plants !

Note: Violets Which May Fit More Than One Color Classification

When searching by color, keep in mind that any interpretation of color is based on subjective perception. In many cases, the color classification of an African Violet will be representative of most everyone's perception. In other cases, however, an African Violet will not be so easily classified. For instance, an African Violet which has been classified as blue may, for some, appear more purple. Likewise, an African Violet which has been classified as pink may appear more red. As a consequence, you may need to check more than one color to find the Violet you are looking for.

Few other 's but looks like Paris the most to me :))

Just a guess
Optimara Berlin (7912) 07/06/1993 (Holtkamp) Semidouble blue star/white frilled edge. Medium green, ovate, glossy, hairy, wavy, serrated. Large
Jesse what is the foliage like ? And does it have white in blooms ?
Optimara Den Haag (8308) 12/14/1995 (Holtkamp) Single blue frilled. Medium green, plain, heart-shaped, serrated. Large
Optimara had this listed under Purple ??
Optimara Madrid (8326) 12/14/1995 (Holtkamp) Single bright burgundy star/white edge. Dark green, plain, pointed, hairy/red back. Large

I recently bought O. Degas at Lowe's in a 6' pot and the Optimara site shows it as a 4' plant. Lowe's just recently started having a lot of 6' plants that are usually 4', but you have to be there when they put them out. They get gone really fast.

I just bought an optimara, too. Must be Christmas or something. Most of the plants I saw had lots of suckers. Check your plant, you may have three or four plants in one. What a find.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay. You all twisted my arm so I went back to Lowe's today to see what they had left. And here is what I found.

I am a newbie when it comes to AV. I do admire them, my granny was a collector and they did very well for her. I must not have the best conditions for them because I killed the 2 that I did try. I have low natural light and haven't tried grow lights inside. They are beautiful, thanks for posting the pretty pics. When you mentioned suckers do you divide and plant them in separate pots? Also is gloxinias in this family?

Beautiful Jesse!!! That 2nd one you picked up looks like my first AV. Came from Lowe's a couple months ago. She still has tons of blooms.

Well-Come bluegrassmom to the wonderful fun World of growing African violets and Gesneriads !
I bet you could grow them . Most times they die from over watering. Plus when you buy them all in bloom they have been grown under controlled growing conditions soil too heavy for most of our homes and so much light to go into full bloom people get them home after awhile they die. We can help you solve these problems and grow blooming plants all year ! You can keep the suckers together and have more than one plant in a pot if you enjoy them this way. Years ago many people did this ! If you want the suckers can be taken off and potted into their own pots for more plants. The first two forums are stickys with loads of links of informations with pictures of how to also !
Jess love your plants it's beautiful ! Oh how I wish I could o shopping !

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)
