A Hoya gift

in Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

My dear friend Susan gave me a couple of cuttings from her plant last spring. I rooted and potted them up, and now it growing like crazy. I noticed this plants grows upwards with ariel roots, and the leaves are thick in texture. It has a couple peduncle on it now, and one with blooms just starting to open. I lost the tag to this plant , so I don't know the name of it. Any help would be appreciated .
Thanks,
Patti
Sorry for the poor pictures, but this is the result of a dropped camera. As you can all see I will never become a professional photographer. LOL

Looks like H. australis to me...but the blooms will tell. Are they VERY fragrant with just a tiny bit of red under the corona? I can't tell from your photograph.

Wow Patti, amazing growth! you must have a super thrive green thumb ;)
I haven't rooted too many cuttings and really had no idea how quickly they can grow!

Patti,
The leaves do look like those of H. australis. It certainly looks happy. Way to grow!

Thanks Shirley and Abbie. I am a very proud Momma. I am really enjoying growing hoyas and reading everything about them. I just love how everyone here is supportive of each other and share their knowledge with us newbies. I have been truly blessed and made some terrifc friends too.
Patti

PS : Abbie some hoya root quicker than other, but I put Super thrive in the water and a dash of liquid fertilizer in a glass. It has been working for me so far.

Patti, superthrive in the water check, what do you mean by fertilizer in a glass please? I could certainly use the pointers!!
- thanks again & I concur on the supportiveness...being somewhat new to hoyas myself (& even more new to DG) I think this is a wonderfully positive environment offering great resources via the many knowladgable & kind people for ANY plant lover!!
Thanks DG & friends!!

& Patti, please let me know how all the cuttings work out for you and your green thumb;)

Abbie,
I am using Terracycle plant food all purpose liquid. I use one squirt. I bought it at HD. I also put my rooted cuttings outside on my deck which is cover with 70 % shade cloth in the spring and summer to enjoy the humidity we have here in Texas. In the winter, I use a plastic bag to produce humidity. I am newbie to Hoya too Abbie. It's all by trial and error. I read alot of posting here on the Hoya forum. I am not the best one to ask about growing hoyas. I have loss many cuttings and a couple plants. I really enjoying growing hoyas, but the friends I made by trading plants is the biggest reward. :O)
Patti
PS: Abbie, I will let you know how the cuttings make out. Thanks !
