Suckering revisited

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I've been checking out some of the faq's and other resources about suckering. I know we've had this discussion before so please forgive me for asking again...but I'm going to~lol! I've got two plants; a micro-mini, Rob's Zippity Doo and another of unremembered size, Von's Friend Syl. They just sucker like crazy. I can't get decent growth on either of them. Seems like when I've tried to take off most of the suckers, they just come right back. I've been trying different combinations of light, moist/dry, etc, and can't find the right combo.

Advice?????

TIA,
Jacki

Jackie there is a thread on suckering Rob's has real good info.

Some sucker beacasue of stress.
Rob's Zippity Doo cool plant when I bought it from Rob's I bought it for my love of Mosaic Av's and it's Rob's only one. Then I sent it to you for you like Mosaic too ! Hope you saved some suckers :)) Great plant !
Let me see if I can find rob's link and others !

Here is a good link from Rob's on suckering He says ". In each case, the plant tries to survive by vegetatively reproducing itself through suckering. In many other cases, unfortunately, this habit is genetic" For more of what her say !

Thanks Allison~ I read those already and in the sticky. I guess what I am asking is; does anyone know if these two are genetically predisposed to suckering, and what is the best way to take off a sucker when it is just starting? The suckers are so numerous that the plants are hardly growing.

Did they do this for you, Allison? If not, then maybe the stress is coming from lack of humidity, which is the biggest difference between my house and yours....

Np it did not but I had not had it long from Rob. The other plant I grew from leaf . A friend brought a rare plant thought to be lost over last month or so and it had a half or dozen suckers babies tiny, tiny ones, Likt 1/8 of inch . She wanted me to take them off and pot them up for her ! I used a sharp tip of a pair of scissors under good light. I've even used a pencil tip. I kept on it was in a one oz pot and today it went into a 2 oz. dixie cup growing and rotting well ! She told me she was brinig a few plants to do this all plants rare so the suckers were well-comes :))
Even too much fertilizer can cause suckers. Are you using heat in your home heat can do this and take the humidity away. Or genetic in nature.
I go right in to the bottom of the sucker where the crown meets with my point I hold the plant uner light/lamp so I can see and gently place the tip of scissor or pencil tiny pressure and the sucker wiggles right off for me.
There is a good couple links with pictures in sticky too.
