I have a shady spot in my garden and need some herb ideas. I am not particular what kind of herb(culinary, aromatic, etc) as long as it isn't too invasive. Also I am in zone 6. Any ideas?
herbs for the shade
I am always on the look out for shade tolerant herbs as my garden is way too shady and I am way too up north.
In your case, it should not be a problem. I think, you can be more adventurous as you'll probably have more
diffuse light in that location than I in my light shade :)
This pot will get a little bit of direct sun, but not much. I'm thinking of combining chives and mints. Hopefully they won't mess with each others' scents! I have them growing for use in other places, though, so I can leave these as entirely ornamental.
Thanks for the interesting link enya... Brid, I like your painted benchs ~ what a great color for them!
Oh to have your time and talent. They are so inviting. A yellow door would be a real focal point. Go for it... : ))
I was just gonna tell you that I liked your blue door. What color is that? I love blues. : )

It's whatever it was when they installed it before I bought the place. It's a nice enough blue, I certainly don't dislike it. It would just be better yellow, given it's in the midst of pink and yellow roses (well, keep your fingers crossed on that score). I heard on some TV home show you should always paint your front door your favorite color, no matter what the colors of your house are. It makes it stand out and be inviting. They showed some and they really do look good. And my favorite color is yellow, so...
I just need to avoid "school bus" yellow and pastel yellow, but still have it bright. Will post when done, and in the meantime the blue is OK.
