I've got the freaky cold weather blues

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Had to bring more than 20 hibiscus and few other tropicals in the house last night; tonight is supposed to be colder.

No room for a Christmas Tree now; what do you think of a decorated hibiscus????

I think it is a great idea :o)

I can feel for you moving all those plants inside, it's a heck of a job. Our power went out for 24 hours, so I brought all of the Hibs into the kitchen from the sunroom. Lot of trips back and forth carrying pots. Plus, I was freezing my butt off. When we finally broke down and got the generator - the power comes back on, lol.

I think you need a tiered plant stand and put the biggest at the top. Then you can string lights up the stand and around the hibs. It would be a Christmas Hibiscus ( say ten times really fast).

Hi
I found a solution for you - an upside down tree. That way you can put all the Hibiscus around the tree. LOL. Here is some handy information on it. LOL

The 7-Foot Upside-Down Pre-Lit Christmas Tree

Evoking a 12th century Central European tradition of hanging a tree from the ceiling at Christmas, this unique 7' pre-lit fir is inverted to ensure a smaller footprint for less-spacious areas, and allowing more room for the accumulation of presents underneath. Originally designed for specialty stores to display delicate ornaments using a minimum of floor space, the unusual tapering shape allows the tree to stand in places that do not accommodate a traditional holiday tree, such as between two armchairs or in a corner. The trees weighted base provides extra stability to prevent tipping and leaning, and it has 3,700 lifelike PVC branch tips that are carefully pre-strung with 800 bright clear commercial-grade lights. The inverted shape makes it easier to see ornaments, which hang away from the dense needles and do not get lost in the foliage. .

LOL, Now if I only knew a 12th century European to hang that dang thing for me. :-))))

LOL. Funny I saw an upside down tree last night on TV. Very interesting!

I left most of my hibiscus out this year. I found they hated the hoophouse last winter. Way too wet and they got soem terrible disease. A few are in. I also have heat this year so they may do OK!

Kell, thankfully mine are back outside; they hated it in! The problem was we had really hot weather and everything was putting on new growth and then this freakish sudden cold spell. We only dropped to 34 here but they were forecasting much lower for us. All that new growth would have been black from the cold.

It's back in the 70's again and the hibiscus and I are happy as the proverbial clams.

See my posting under My New Baby. I brought it in and it has been blooming its little heart out in my sun window. Gave it some osmacote back in early October and I keep it watered as the soil is very porous and it uses a lot of water in the sun window. But the blooms are worth it. What a sight!
It has a blossom now. My Christmas present!
