Look who's starting to bloom!

Edison, NJ(Zone 7a)

Since I set up my new light stand, all of my babies have done so much better. Two of the more mature plants started blooming for me, so I thought I would share.

This first one is Optimara Evergrace, probably my favorite out of all my AVs. I bought it as a small plantlet back in June, and this is its first bloom.

This one is Teen Bride. The flower is so pretty. It's kind of hard to tell in the picture, but its very pale pink, almost white.

It's the first bloom for this baby, too.

I know you're excited, they're very pretty. I just love waiting for those first buds to open, especially on a new plant.

Hi Stephanie,
I agree with Susan....so pretty! Enjoy your new light stand. I know you will! I love the light stands year round, but especially during the shorter days of winter.

Thanks, SusanGA and Snowrose.

With the new stand, everything is growing well, especially all of the babies I just separated from the mama leaves. In fact, everything is growing so much better, that I need another light stand!

Hmmm.... Wonder where I can put it?

The bloom on Teen bride is precious. So delicate.

Just wait Stephanie, the Optimara 'Ever......' Series are notarious for suckering and you just feel like you have to pot up each and every one.

Edison, NJ(Zone 7a)

Susan, you're absolutely right about the suckering. I removed a good sized sucker from Evergrace when I repotted a few weeks ago, and I also have a few leaves down which all have babies. I have an Everpraise, too. It's a bit smaller than Evergrace, but growing nicely now on the new stand. I hope that one blooms soon!!

The Space babies EverFloris line are not always easy to buy cheap. I grew several sets by leaves to share with people here on DG's glad I save all the babies. Gave my new neighbor my last EverGrace baby a month ago when he moved in. He loves growing tropical plants, Orchids and more it was a nice size, and shaped plant he was excited to have it when I told him the space story.
Stephanie your plants are so pretty !

Stephanie, I love my new plant stand too and I'm trying to figure out where to put another one. I have a tiny house.
I can't wait for some of mine to bloom the first time. They'll be my first ever!! I bought a few already blooming but those don't count. I have to be able to get em to bloom.

Love your Evergrace!!! I almost bought one, but they're sooo expensive. Where did ya get your plantlet??

Debbie,

I got my Evergrace on eBay. It was one of the first AVs I bought. I think I only paid about 7-8 dollars for it. I got Everpraise on eBay, too, and can't wait until that one blooms. That one was only about $5. I remember being surprised that no one else bid on it.

I've been getting my little collection started on Ebay too. I have 6 coming this week!! Yippie!!

So you've only been growing AV since June?? I'm impressed with how your AV look. I got my first 2 from Lowe's a couple monthes ago, then desided to come on the AV forum bout 3 weeks ago and I'm in really big trouble!! LOL I had no clue they were so beautiful and different. Green leaves and purple floweres is what I thought. I see yet another addiction coming on strong!!

I'll keep a watch on Ebay. I did see some Ever........., but they were 19.99. OUCH!!!

Debbie Kirt's Gardens have really nice African violets and good prices and the plants come in full blomm ! The Space babies are not cheap but are in 4-6 inch pots in full blooms ! Some pople bought Space babyes in large pots in bloom for 10.00 at their HD.
I gave several people on DG's sets of Space babies I bet there are a lot of people who will be happy to share leaves or plants with you in the Spring.
I noticed Hirt's sells the two new Southern Belle series plants both for only http://www.hirts.com/
both in bloom for only $11.99 :))
I was suprised how many different ones at good prices they sell even little mini Mickey Mouse only 4.99 !
They sell many other plants too.
I use to live in Medina Ohio but did not grow many plants then wish I could go there now.

Very pretty blooms. I'm wondering if I should have one of those plant stands. I may have to post a thread and ask where I can get one that is all set up. I'm not handy and neither is my DH. I would want to buy one that has the light fixtures already set up in it. (probably will cost me a fortune)
