What a sight for sore eyes!! Beautiful!

Thanks Faye: One of mine is blooming, the others are budding out ..... but your's just look so lush and healthy! I guess I better start being a better "plant mom" and start feeding my plants ... they might appreciate it!

I have one that used to be a bright pink bloom, but a couple of years ago it began blooming a kind of coral color .... I think some plants "revert" back to whence they came. I have a large variegated hibiscus in my front yard .... years ago it had light pink blooms and 2 years ago I transplanted it to the front yard and the blooms are now a coral color! Weird! I liked the pink better, but I guess the hibiscus wanted to "revert". At least the leaf variegation has remained and not reverted to solid green!

Beautiful gingerose!

Loving my Christmas Cactus in bloom at about 3 ft. across now. I do not have a variety name for this one but I just call it the Bloomin' Fool as it will bloom from now until the end of April non-stop.

Snowrose,

Geez! Blooming until April? Mine always bloom around Thanksgiving and then have a weak second bloom around beginning of march. Yours is awsome! Must like your cooler temps!

You all DO know that there actually is a true "Christmas Cactus"? The one we all call by that name is more a "Thanksgiving cactus". A true Christmas cactus has a lot more rounded leaves )not so many of those points) and the flowers are a bit fuller. I just cut out an article on it from a magazine--now I cannot find it.

I read somewhere just now also that after the Thanksgiving cactus blooms, one should cut back all the ends and then start fertilizing it. So, I cut all mine back this morning. I hope it will not affect their growth any. All the ends did seem so weak and long.....Now I have a big tray-full of cuttings. Will try to root some of them....
Does anyone else cut theirs back?

I always put mine outside in partial sun and treat them as all my other plants. When the weather gets cold--like into the 40's, I leave them all out another 2 weeks or so. It helps set the flower buds. You don't want them to freeze, but they appreciate the cold weather for a while before being brought inside.

Here's a picture of mine last Fall. Gita

Gitagal - Wish I knew the variety name of this Christmas cactus. I've grown several over the years, but this one blooms all winter until spring unlike any others I've had. I too would love to find the real old time Christmas cactus with the elongated segments and smooth slightly scalloped edges.

The plant in the photo goes outside in a shady spot for the summer and I bring it in usually in October starting to bud.

Your plant is lovely.

Snowrose

PS: I've never cut it back. Good luck with your cuttings.

Gingerose--I think I read the same item you did about cutting back. When mine bloomed this year--around Thanksgiving (pic attached) --I took off one or two segments from every branch that flowered. It is now putting out a whole new set of buds! It never rebloomed this quick before nor nearly as heavily. I am glad I tried it now--I suffered a bunch of doubt after I saw how big a pile of leaves I had removed. But I have a few rooted now and shared the rest with several people.
