We had the coldest weather we have had all year last night. I had to move my brug cutting from the basement to a utility building, sort of like a garage. Bobbie has been telling me that I need to move my bubblers and plants off the cement floor that they would freeze there. Of couse being a man I ignored her and when I went out this morning I heard the bubbler motors going but didn't see any water circulation. Upon closer examination the water froze during the night. I just hope it didn't kill the cuttings.
I am sick with the flu and can't go out in the cold to redo them today. Just hoping that they will be alright. I know one that I had in there that I grew from seeds looks as if the leaves are burned really bad. Just having a bad week here. Do you ever feel like just quitting. That was my first thought.
Big disappointment

Hope your flu will be over soon - it sure can cast a pall over everything. When I read your post I thought, if that had been me I would have surely burned the bubbler motors out too. I'm hoping your brugs survived the cold blast and that your wife Bobbie will not chastise you too badly for having ignored her. Feel Better!
Oh so sad. But do not give up. We all need some brug light in our lives for excitement! If you can't save the tops, do not worry. We all will help you replace them. I know I have a few special ones thanks to others that I can sure share. Just concentrate on feeling better and getting over the flu. As for your seedling, lets all hope it survives.
And always remember, wives are always right!
LOL
Jim, if you lost any of the ones I sent you, I think I can send you some more. When you get better lmk and I will look and see.
Ruth
Thanks everyone, I am some better. And yes I think maybe I better start listening a little closer.
I went out and took a look see and they appear to be alrigth. I did lose the leaves and buds off of a big Adeline that I had in a bubbler. Also one that I am growing from a seed that Susie sent me. I sure hope I don't lose that one.
I have had this mess off and on for about 5 weeks. I had it really bad for a couple of weeks and started getting better and then it came a big rain storm and I had water coming in the house and discovered a gutter had come off so I had to go out and repair that. Then I relapsed and then got better again and then over the weekend I started coughing really bad. I just carried Bobbie to the doctor last week with the flu. I should have gotten a shot my self. Better days ahead I hope.
Ruth Bobbie told me last week to email you and tell you she would call you when she got better and when I saw you posting I remembered. Bad me.
sorry if loose, i know every yr i have not got one going yet i say i.m done than see pictures keep trying..Hope your getting well now things will recover for you.. blessings, for you both..
Jim
It good to hear you are getting better, that stuff just hangs on, I've had it for over two weeks and still have cough.
Ruth
Jim,
I have plenty of brugs and would be more than happy to share with you. Even if all of yours pull through I may have some you should have too. Get well and from now on listen to your wife. She will never steer you wrong. Merry Christmas, my friend.
Loretta
Oh Jim I am so sorry. Hope they recover with out losing to many
Thanks all. This cold weather has me bundled up and staying inside. I did combine all three bubblers into one container and brought them into the foyer. The top of them froze but I am hoping I can cut them down some and they will put back out. I hope I don't have to beg next spring but be ready just in case. And thanks to all of you for the concern.
Oh Merry Christmas Loretta, and all you brug lovers. Thanks Loretta for the offer.
