Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi, I am very new at gardening and I am planting brugs for the first time... can't resist them... need some help... I have 6 brugs cuttings rooting in water - they are doing well and I am wondering how they do in MA... most of you guys are from FL, TX or warmer parts of the country...lucky people!!!!

how long does it take for the plant to stablish? If I am planting in containers, how big to start with? Do I have to repot???? please help me find some threads that has this informations!!!! thanks for your help!

Kassia.. how did you get plants up in Framingham...
Now.. they are ready to go into soil I'd imagine... if you see any rooting at all... give them as much light as possible after they are rooted out ..put them in a smallish pot to start with ...so they will dry out some before watering again... keep them thinking wet dry wet dry... like outside... keeping them always wet in a big pot is asking for problems... then pottem up when they are at risk for tipping over... see the overwintering thread above or below this.. but with new plants... dormancy isn't a question... you have to keep them up and running... to have blooms next summer ... Hi Kassia! How great you are growing brugs too now. You will love them. Follow what Gordon told you, he grows incredible brugs in NYC!! On a roof. LOL.

You can put them where you have your roses now. Maybe put a table there.

Your garden next summer is going to be so full of blooms. I can't wait for pictures.

Thanks Gordon and Kell... I got the cuttings from someone in this site... I also got Rose lady Banks and forsythias cuttings... the brugs have some roots coming out...
I will follow your advice ... you can believe it!

Hi Kassia,
I'm in MA, too.
My little brug cuttings are kept upstairs by a window in my kitchen. They are in regular potting soil in clear 12 oz plastic drinking cups. I only water them every once in a while when I see they need it. The clear cups make it really easy to see how much water is needed.
(And my kids really like seeing the progress the roots are making. I get almost daily reports from my daughter who is has become a jr. gardener and really likes getting her hands dirty. *I'm so proud!* :-) )
I haven't repotted them up because I really don't know if I should before spring is closer here.
My big brugs are mostly dormant in the basement.

When I got my 1st brug as a small cutting that my mom had started just before her passing, I turned to the DG community for advice. And Kell came to my rescue with very detailed posts and dmails on how to keep it healthy and thriving.

Kell, if you're reading this, Thank YOU! That little cutting from mom is doing great. The kids and I haven't named it, but we call it "Grandmom's Angel Trumpet".

Kassia, I'll be happy to forward to you those posts and dmails if you want them.

That will be awesome Lora... please do... I just took pictures of the cuttings and they are doing well... they have little leaves already...

I am afraid to become addicted ... but one thing is that contrary to roses at least I will be able to bring the brugs in the house for winter... I have tons of mini roses inside this year... some are micro minis so they will always be small anyway so it makes sense to be in pots...

I will post a picture so you guys tell me which cuttings are ready to be potted... ok???

thanks
