Has anyone built their own UV filter? If so, I would like to pick your brain concerning the pros and cons of doing it yourself. We have a 12,000+ pond and before I break down and buy one would like to explore the possibility of making our own.

If you havn't already, check out Wikipedia on the hazards of UV light. I use two UV's for my 2000 gal. koi pond. Pricey, but worth it. I replace the lamps after two seasons of use. I can sure see the appeal of saving the costs but I question the hazards of exposure to stray UV light. 12,000 gallons sounds like a dream pond. Good luck!
Thanks I will check out the suggestion. I think we can build a system that is safe but it would be nice to talk to someone that has built one. A big pond is great but everything you need for it has a big price too.lol And catching a koi to cull it out is impossible. lol But I do love it.
