I'm so mad at our stupid Texas weather! We haven't gotten a hint of winter until yesterday, when - within one hour - the temp suddenly dropped below 40 (from the 70s)! Long story short, this sanchezia was left out (I figure the temps were around 35 during the dark night hours) in the cold for a few hours (5-6?), and when I got home, it looked like this! This was an extremely healthy plant - is it salvagable? Should I cut all of the dead leaves off? I plan on leaving it in this sunny window until spring...
Thanks for the advice!
Can I save this sanchezia?
I think its worth it to try to save it! I would cut it back to the bottom leaves, keep it watered and I really think that you will see new growth at the base.Or- if you want-just take the leaves off the stems and see if the stems are frozen/dead. If so, cut the stems back until you reach live stems. Soon you will see new leaves come out. This is a pretty tough plant-
It should make it. :-)
I was hoping y'all would say that - I just love this thing!
its a great plant, and you can easily do cuttings from it. They root in about 7-10 days with bottom heat
