I have had experience with plants sprouting in spring, ony to be damaged severly by a late frost, but I have never seen plants re-sprout after dying back for winter. Some of my callas and all of my hydrangeas are sprouting now after this warm spell. Is anyone else experiencing this? Should I just let nature take it's course and hope for the best?
What to do when plants are resprouting in this weather?
kw, looks like we're gonna get another cold zap at nites for the next few days so that should slow them down a bit. I think your plants will be fine; with the colder weather coming on again and the lack of many hours of daylight I don't believe you'll see much growth.
I'd just make sure the roots are well-mulched to keep the ground temperature from fluctuating a great deal.
Crazy weather we're having, eh?
Shoe.
My hydrangeas and cannas also have new growth, a banana plant, too. Crazy! But I agree with Shoe, it should start to get more uniformly cool after this little cold snap comes in.
