Cushing's disease in dogs

Has anyone had experience with Cushing's disease in dogs? My black and tan coonhound has been diagnosed as such (age almost 10 yrs). She did well for a while, but seems to be deteriorating now. The only treatments available are not very satisfactory or particularly effective - poor prognosis now. I am most concerned that she not suffer. She has had a good life (was rescued from certain death at 8 weeks) and I want a peaceful end for her even if it is not as prolonged as I would have liked. Has anyone else experienced this?
