MM as dark as ever

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Even though we are entering our winter months brugs like MM, serendipity and EP are still blooming in very dark shades of pink. It's really weird because i know last year at this time my blooms were pale, muted shades of pink. We have had a couple of cold fronts move through but it's warmed up again quite a bit . I think this weather trend is being experienced across the U.S.
I'm not sure exactly why they are blooming so dark but I'll take it any day!!

Beautiful color on your MM. I'm like Jim. Any size, shape, or color would be wonderful right now. We have gone from a high of 64 yesterday to being in a winter weather advisory for tonight. The birds and squirrels are really hitting the feeders now. Your pictures are always nice, Gary. Thanks for sharing them.

Gordon MM is like any other brug. The color varies with the climatic environments. It just so happens that all the planets are aligned correctly here. The weather has alternated from chilly to downright hot during the the time that the bud was in formation. There are many factors involved in the resulting color of a brug. Factors such as temp, humidity, even soil PH can play a factor in the resulting color. For most people MM is usually a shade of pink. Somewhat darker pink during the warmer months. Don't get too excited. This is more of a fluke than anything else. This shade of red is something i don't think many people have seen before.
I sure hope that i see it again sometime soon!
