People, Places & Plants Magazine

Lexington, VA(Zone 6a)

Anyone subscribe? I used to love this magazine when I was a Northeast gardener, but no longer subscribe, $24.95/yr is a little steep. I enjoyed their television show on HGTV until they moved its airing time and now I can't find it! While trying to find information on the show I found their contest for Photo of the Week, free subscription for a year. Figured I'd submit a photo and try - free subscription on its way!!! http://www.ppplants.com/resources/photos_of_the_week/index.php?date=2006-11-26

With all the wonderful photos on this forum, thinking someone might want to submit their entry? [hint, hint... Andy? :))]

Can you think of anything better than spending the winter months perusing a new gardening magazine?

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

I like the magazine. the tv show is no longer filming episodes. I run across Paul tukey and Roger swain from time to time at the Massachusetts Horticultural society doings like the Flower show in the spring. I like that it is localized to here. I shop for my garden in several of the new england states, actually any of them I happen to be in at the moment and I like to have good information about places to buy plant and gardening stuff.

I've tried a bunch. I get Fine Gardening (which has been my favorite) and American Gardner (American Hort. Society's mag.) at this time.

Deb, I saw your shot, very nice.
I submitted one this afternoon and it's already posted there, below yours. Cool

way to go Andy :) Send him more!!!

"fake" Dave :) I've subscribed to Fine Gardening and Horticulture seems like forever, since the 80's?? Saved all of them and I'm running out of room! Plan was to save all the articles I found useful and catalog them - like that's ever going to happen!! LOL Also get AHS's American Gardener, useful information but not as nice as the other two.

PPP had offered a Mid-Atlantic edition a couple of years ago, but discontinued it - the "Northeast" edition was always my favorite :)

Deb, I sent Paul a link to a thread like this http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/605951/ that I started on the little site I monitor. I offered him and PP&P an expanded photo essay of the 'Life Cycle of Spring Bulbs'. He liked it well enough to suggest that it might be used in the Spring issue of the magazine.
I've had pics shown on TV but never in a mag, that would be cool. We'll see.
Thanks for the heads up on this.

Andy - that is sooooo cool and sooooo deserved.

Hold on, He didn't say he would, only might.
Either way, it's nice to be considered.

Either way, congratulations!

I received a couple of issues of PPP but I wasn't a big fan. Can't remember why, could have been just getting too many magazines at the time.
Deb, I got Horticulture for a while too. Garden Design was way too fancy for me. I'm still amazed at how Organic Gardening, which I got for years, kind of lost its way. If I could only have one, it would be Fine Gardening.

Deb, I sent Paul the high resolution versions of my pics along with short text this afternoon. He got right back to me with a modest offer of compensation. He stopped short of saying 'yes' but I'm encouraged. Woohoo.
