CLOSED: Looking for 2 amaryllis bulbs/ have brugmansias to trade

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I have lots and lots of brugmansias to trade, rooted and/or cuttings. Many nice varieties, or I can trade several older varieties.

I'm buying a hurricane vase and I'd like to put the bulbs inthe vase inside for christmas decoration. Do you think they'll bloom soon if planted in rocks in a vase?

I'm new to amaryllis bulbs, , how much light do they require as well. Thanks in advance. The vase i'm going to buy is very large , large enough for 2 medium sized bulbs, or blooming size.

Let me know if your interested, and I'll gather up a list, or you can let me know which varieties of brugs you are lookin g for,

I also have lots and lots of other plants I can trade too, I'm not really good of keeping records of what's in the greenhouse, so bear with me as I make a list up.

On second thought, I"m sorry all. I'm just going to go over to lowe's and buy one, that way I'll have a little more time to prepare it. but would like to get those questions answered.

I'm going to leave this open for a bit longer to see if I can get those questions answered.

thanks

Hi Kathy,

Mine are planted in my flower beds. They are the first to bloom in yard as early as end of February. The multiply like rabbits this way. Probably doesn't answer your question. Sorry,

Are yours the belladona amaryllis bulbs? I have some of those, they do multiply like rabbits LOL. I was thinking of those big beautiful tropical ones, that are all over lowes and home depot this time of year, they have to bloom now if their selling them now don't they?

Hey Kathy,

I don't have Belladona. I have the following.

Hippeeastrum Apple Blossom
Hippeeastrum Butterfly
Hippeastrum Charisma
Hippeeastrum Green Goddess
Hippeeastrum Lemon Lime
Hippeeastrum Mr. Hughs (this is not a registered name)
Hippeeastrum Papilio
Hippeeastrum Picotee
Red and White Double Unknown
Solid Red Single unknown

These grow in pots
Hippeeastrum reticulatum variegata striatifolium white strip
Hippeeastrum reticulatum variegata striatiflolium yellow strip
Hippeeastrus reticulatum var "Bangkok Rose'

Good Luck with your search. They do have some beauties at and home depot.

OH gosh, Sorry, I should have known you had all those fancy ones, I saw a few of them on the internet, they are georgious. I'm so new to them, and don't know a thing about how to raise them, you have all these growing outside? Wow!! Do you have to dig any of them up? OUr winters get pretty cold sometimes, I suppose I'd have to grow them in pots. Sometimes I wish I lived in warmer climate LOL but I don't miss it during the heat of the summer

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Kathy,

Yes, the are low maintenance bedding perennials for me here. They are planted in full sun and basically just take care of themselves. I provide no winter protection.

I may break down and buy those this year :)) I have several of the Apple Blossom, Red Lion and Papilio and a few solid red that the blooms get as large as a dinner plate. Such a show they put on !! Do you have a favorite place to buy yours ?

That seems to be a quite popular color darmadoll

You know before I even saw flowerjunkie's post I was looking at the lemonlime and butterfly on ebay. fell in love with them, I 'm in the process of purchasing them now, can't wait, they did say they would bloom anywhere inside about 60 days after planted. and then to plant them outside inthe spring to let them grow for foliage then dig them up in the fall and pot them for flowering inside during the winter again, They didn't say that they would wilt when dug up or what to do with the green that wilts if it wilts. I know it will wilt when dug up. But i'm learning. Going to town tomorrow and going to look lowes and walmart over for some other beauties. I also bought some paper whites to hopefully force blooming inside too
