I am new to African Violets and I rooted some in water and potted them up. Nothing is happening yet, no new leaves. Have I done it right? When can I expect new growth, and should I have used a rooting hormone?
Are there other ways to propagate AV's. I have heard about suckers, but haven't seen any.
Thanks for any help!
How do you propagate an African Violet?
Start by checking out this forum's handy "Sticky" thread at the top of the forum, then do some searches for "propagation" and you should find a nice recent thread about crown cuttings of chimera AVs. The "stickies" are loaded with good, basic, information to get started and answer your questions. Good luck!
Thanks JamesCO
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/657838/ is the crown cutting link.
Enjoy!
Wow, that was a great link! Thanks again. I never realized how many beautiful varieties of AV's there are. I'm hooked.

Hi cedernest. I think I am in big trouble. The AV I have now is so beautiful and it makes me happy! And with the dreary weather right now... all I want to do is grow more and more and more! So enable me everyone. And thank!
