Tami,
You must have the magic touch for these plants, they are healthy, full and pretty. You do a great job. What are your growing conditions?

New Caney, TX

Susan,
I keep these in the sunroom year round. I have peble trays under each. I just try to find pots and peable trys that are about the same size. I really think they need the moisture. Thanks for your sweet coments.

Tami: What beautiful plants. I have been wanting to try Episcias, but haven't broken down and bought one yet! Are they easy to care for? I have a few AV's, do they require the same type of care as AV's? Really gorgeous plants!

Oh Tami, you tease, you! Those are just lovely.

You did give me a good idea for a name for one of my seed grown episcia..."Puppy Love". Won't know which one to name that until they're a wee bit bigger. Now don't nobody go and tell me there's one already named that.

Tami, they are really healthy, well-grown, GORGEOUS plants! :) The 'Pink Panther' you sent me is coming along nicely. I was able to root BOTH of the unrooted ones, just like you said.:) I hope mine looks like yours when they grow up. Here are some pics:

Beautiful plants ! Mine have been growing on our screen porch past month sense we moved . I lost a few and only have a few left now when it goes below 55 I take them in. But their as happy as can be ! I've always grown mine in natural light and our humidity is perfect here !

Thanks, Lin, Peggy, Violet_Treasure and Shanika,
Peggy, I love the name of your seedling.
Shanika, I'm so glad your plants are doing well. I think the peeble tray is what really helps.
Violet_Treasure I think your humidity would be great for them in Florida.

Beautiful Plants Tami and GH.Good Growing!! Tami Kee Wee is stunning!!Allison/Violet_Treasure was kind enough to share some of her episcias with me a while back and they are really starting to take off beautifully now. I have found the foliage puts on a very nice show all on its own but I can't wait to see their first blooms! : )

Nancy,
Blue Nile has yet to bloom for me. I've had these four about 18 months or maybe a little more. I lost the first few I had because I didn't know about the Peeble trays and that they don't like cool spells. I left mine out when it got down to 50. No good for them at all. I have a few more that I just got in trades that are small that I'm trying to get established. Grey Lady, Strawberry Patch,Teddy Bear and Silver Cloud. I hope to get these growing like my others. I have rooted plants everywhere and need to sell or trade them but it has gotten too cold. Some of them will be to large to send in the mail. The only fertalizer I use is Osmocote. Seems to work ok. I find little about them on the internet really. Oh and thanks.

Best way to get Epsicas to bloom is to keep removing the stolons and then put each new stolon in new solo cup or pot it's own size it will root with-in a week and grwo a new plant to share. The mom plant will brance out new crowns when you remove stolons and then will bloom more :))
Light, heat and humidity help but I grow mine with very little natural light , I feed and keep moist I take off stolons and then I get many blooms :))

New Caney, TX

LOL I do the same pretty much with mine. Just answered on another one of your threds. They do love the humidity.

I have been growing episcias for a long time but they have really taken off since I began to use Osmogro pots this fall. The pots are expensive but I have a feeling they will be well worth it. The water is drawn up thru osmosis. Take a look at osmogro.com. (I think I got that right!)
Not only do the plants produce more flowers when the stolens are pinched off, but the leaves also grow larger. I only save the stolens when the original plant has become too leggy or it is nearing sale time for our club. All those episcia babies would push my violets out the door!

Tami- your plants are looking GREAT! ; ) The cuttings you've sent me are doing really well, too! Thanks! ; )

New Caney, TX

Nancy,
I guess I need to pince off more stollens. Ouch. I hate doing that. I guess I could try rooting off the mother plant.

Cheryl,
My two Episcias and goldfish plant you sent are doing great. I lost the leaves though. Well I do have one that is hanging in there and we will see. I don't have much luck with leaves. I used to root AV leaves in water but would loose them after I planted them. I even kept them moist. I don't know what I do wrong. Glad your Episcias are doing good as well. Thanks for letting me know.

Hmmm...I could try rooting them here and wait for babies in the Spring or I could find something else you'd like? I may have some av babies coming soon- they've been rooting for forever and I think they're about due. I'll dmail you when they come up if you're interested in those. ; )

New Caney, TX

Cheryl,
I'll send you dmail.

Tami
