Has anyone ever re-used leaves?

Edison, NJ(Zone 7a)

Just as an experiment, now that I have my new light stand set up, I put down a set of leaves to see if they would grow more babies. Has anyone else tried this?

To my surprise, within 3 weeks, I saw a bunch of little ears poking through the soil! They're so cute! I'll try and get a picture tonight.

Yes but not often as I like to keep babies with Mom for a long time sometimes even after trans-planting . I fount I grew better size more healthy babies this way.
But many people re-use them.

The first batch of babies were becoming so large, they were crowding each other out. After separating them into their own little pots, I was going to throw the mama leaves away. But then I thought... the leaves were still very healthy looking and well-rooted, so why not try and see if they would grow more babies? So after repotting in fresh soil, I stuck them back in the shoebox (the lid has holes in the top for ventilation), and under the new lights.

This second batch of babies seem even bigger than the first! Perhaps because of the better lighting and the VF-11?

I've re-used leaves before.

Did you keep roots with mom or new cut ?
Lights and VF-11 yes super super combination :))

Both Mom leaves still had tons of roots after removing the babies, so I just stuck them both in fresh soil, fed with VF-11, and back under the lights they went.

Here's a picture of the new ears popping up. They appeared at around 3 weeks after repotting the Mom leaves, and are now about a week or so old.

That's great and even better that you had roots ! Lot's of times I have also kept mom with a baby or the smallest baby with roots to keep it strong.
Each time is different depending on what you as the grower want to do and how the Mom leaf and babies are.
Have Fun ! They are cute babies :))
