Funny story about that!
Lady down the street asked me to come over,she had plant she wanted me to see,it was this deffie,planted in the ground,I told her it wasn't hardy,she had it in a pot for about 4 yrs,and it was about 3 to 4 ft tall,but had several babies about 2 ft tall,she said every winter it would drop all it's leaves and almost die,and she was tired of baby it
until spring,so she bent down and broke one of the baby canes and said just stick in some potting soil and it will grow,so thats what I did,it grew to about 3 ft,and the wind blew it over and broke it off at soil level,so I stuck it back in the pot and it took off growing again,thats why I have 2 canes!That was about 3 years ago!
Hardly ever fertilize it !
