Why is my cherry tree losing the bark on the limbs?

I don,t know if that is something that normally happens, or if your tree has a problem, I have never seen that happening. You might try posting this on the tree forum, someone there might know.

I've seen something show up on branches on my black cherry trees. Maybe cankers or something, and eventually some of the tree branches die back at that point. I don't know for sure what that is.
