I have some rooted forsythia that I recieved in a trade. It is rooted and blooming. I am wondering if I need to plant it in the ground for the winter so it will go dormant and bloom in the spring, or if I should keep it in the greenhouse until spring. Then I guess it won't bloom in the spring if it stays green all winter. I am in 8a.

Forsythia question
this is a hardy plant. You could plant it inground right now and would be fine. I'm surprised to hear you say it is blooming. Maybe you got it from a cooler climate and when it got to z8a, it has started blooming.
It had buds on it when I got it, and they opened while it was rooting. I didn't know they were flower buds till they opened. I thought they were just new growth. So even though it will freeze here in Dec and Jan and probably Feb too it will be ok? They are only a few inches tall now.
I think they will be just fine, but if you still feel unsure, keep a couple indoors and plant the others. In the remote event they die, I think it would be relatively easy to find cuttings next year thru DGs trading forum.
