Ok . I am pretty new to growing hoyas, and I have a couple rooted cuttings not labled ready to pot up. These hoyas cuttings have spots ( splashes) on the leaves. I know pink silver has spots, but is there others ? I wasn't going to ask, but it is driving me crazy not knowing. LOL I will try ot post pictures later. Thanks for any help.

Ok I have to ask a newbie question.
Patti...there are a number of hoyas that have silver splotches...some more than others. Most of the H. pubicalyx have them...a picture would help but leaves are so IFFY!
Off the top o' me head - my carnosa, obovata, deykei,(and of course the pubicalyx, as Carol stated).......among several others that I can't recall the names of right now, (lol!) have silver specks.....even polyneura has a few.
These look suspiciously like carnosa to me, but, as always, I could be wrong. My pink silver has massive great big splashes over the leaves, like someone has thrown paint all over it...
while we're on the subject of spots/splashes, has anyone else noticed that (at least with the publicalyx anyway) they can turn a bit pink? Seems a bit odd but very pretty.
I was thinking the 2 and 3 are the same, but the first one has different shaped leaf more rounded.
Rose - not being able to see the apex (the tip) of the leaf of #1, the bases all look the same and I would 'guess' that they are all the same and probably H. carnosa. Leaves on the same plant can be fatter than others...but basically they will have the same traits at the apex, base, the margins (do they recurve? or not). Another place to look is on the back, where the base joins the stem.... They could also be one of the H. pubicalyx cultivars as they all don't have really elongated leaves.... HTH.
Carol
Thanks Carol for your help. Could the first one be obovata?
Patti
I'm guessing it's not obovata, as the pictures on the internet (http://www.bystrupplanter.dk/hoyaplante.aspx?img=obovata - not always the best indication, I know) look much wider than the one leaf you have posted.
My australis has a similar phenomenon - occasionally the tip doesn't grow for whatever reason (I read somewhere this is most likely caused by it being broken when the leaves are growing) so you end up with a leaf with an indent instead of a tip.
Thanks Hill and Susan . I am going to pot them all up in the same pot.
Patti
