My friend wants to plant them along her drive way so I need a bunch.
I have ;
echinacea"Doppleganger"
lobelia cardinalis
goldenrod "Fireworks"
P
wanted:dble pink confederate rose
My Double Pink Confederate Rose is setting seed now and still blooming. My three shrubs are about 10 foot tall. I can only immagine how a lined drive way would! If you are willing to wait on my seeds I can give you enough for you and your friends. I would be interested in the Echinacea"Doppleganger".
I will check on the pods this evening to see if any are ready and will let you know with more accuracy when you can expect them.
Thanks,
Daisy
Daisy,
thanks a bunch. I sure would be interested.
There's about a 30-40ft patch of lawn between her driveway and parking lot of church parking lot. She says they think her house is part of the church because it's the same brick as they church and people will walk in her yard (several aces)w/their pets on leases using her yard for a pitstop. Doesn't want a fence so she wants shrubs there to discourage them from coming on her property.
P
P.S.no,folks don't take pets to church but there is a group of people called the Nailbenders that go out to different places to help build churches or buildings and homes that have been destoryed by storms and they sometime rallying their w/ their RV's before they get on the road.
Hey P,
I checked on the pods and I have tons of them but they are ll agreen still. It will have to wait for them to dry up then I can pull the pods and send them to you.
Seems like your friend has big problem on her hands. I wonder if the Confederate Rose would be enough to keep those dogs from visiting her yard. I have a bunch of Agave American babies I could send her for postage. Those suckers are fantastic deterants and they grow fast. She could put agave along the parking lots and the CF on her side of the Agave. (JUST A THOUGHT) Most people plant theses inside thier fences so any would be thieves jumping over fences at night will get the suprise of thier lives. LOL! Another thought, it would be more postage, I could send her cuttings that she can stick in the ground now where ever she wants a 10X 5 foot CF and they would be rooted and growing by spring. I'm not sure how fast these grow from seed.
Daisy
I also have this shrub, I would be happy to send some cuttings, it roots easily in water too...like brugs.

Dogs are walked on lease by owners so she doesn't want anyone poked just a way to let them know the property lines and she like confederate roses.....and her hub's doesn't wat to be shish-ka-bobbed when he rides the mower.
Thanks for the offer though.
P
I have this bush and didnt know what it was so thanks for posting the picture. I also am getting seed pods if anyone wants some. Unusual flower as it changes color in the day from light pink to dark pink. Fran
You are welcomed....mine has both the white that changes to pink and the pale pink that goes to darker pink...very nice shrub...or tree...lol
Hey Janet,
The cuttings you send me of the one that changes colors is doing well. No spouts but still very green and looks like they are busy rootings.
Thanks,
Daisy
I have seeds and grew my hedge from seeds. Growing them from seeds is not easy but the nice thing is that they bloom the first year. The paper towel method seems to be the best way to get them to germinate. They are also whitefly magnets. I'm going to try the worm castings next year as a top dressing. People swear by it in that it makes the chemistry of the plants unpalatable to them.
From seed it takes 3 years to make a nice full busy hedge. Mine are two years old, the picture shows how tall they get in one seasons growth. They have not been fed at all so I image they would get taller if fed. In Spring I will cut them back to the ground and keep them topped off at fence level. Some people don't cut them back but you get sparse foliage.
When you get seeds, you probably want to start them immediately.
If you want some of my seeds let me know.

Beautiful pictures X! I don't feed mine either....
X,
those are gor-gee-us! I'll take you up on the offer of seeds. As well as seeds list in orginal post I'm adding tricyrtis mix and white baptisia freshly harvest yesterday.
P
I'd like some tricyrtis mix seeds also. I'm afraid you are going to wind up with more seeds than you bargained for. LOL!
those changing blooms are amazing. Do you know the name? if it was already listed, I'm sorry I missed it. please repeat for this slow learner.
It is a Confederate Rose...not in the rose family, I think it may actually be in the hibiscus family, but I could be wrong..
Daisy,
I am so glad your cuttings are doing well! They will get the bumps along the wood just like the brugs do and then the roots appear...I am so excited I have some Rose of Sharon that are rooting in my bubbler!!
Just wanted to say I think the white are very pretty also. I have never had mine bloom white and I did feed mine several times ha My husband got kind of mad because it really spread oout and got in the way when he mowed so cut the lower limbs off. Its still blooming like mad and its already dec and it started blooming in the spring and now the seed pods are forming and will be ready soon so anyone wanting them I would be happy to send some for just 39cents postage since they are very small and would go thru the cancelling machine fine.
