Easy Pizza Crust from scratch

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

We talked about this in chat a bit ago and Darius asked me to post this. I totally forgot but just found it when I was looking for something.

Pizza Dough

1 cup of water
1 package active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
3 cups of flour

Preheat oven to 425.

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water in large bowl.

Add remaining water, salt and sugar.

Add 1/2 flour amount and beat until smooth. Add only enough of remaining flour (I use the full 3 cups.)until dough forms a ball that can be easily handled.

Turn onto floured surface and knead 5 minutes.

Cover with plastic wrap and clean dish towel and let rest 5 minutes.

Make sauce (will post basic recipe if anyone needs it).

Grease cookie sheet or pizza pan with shortening. Roll out dough with rolling pin. Place dough on cookie sheet and stretch width with fingers to edge of pan. Turn up edge to form crust.

Spoon sauce over top. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top of sauce.

Sprinkle cooked meat, onions on top of sauce.

Sprinkle Mozarella cheese on top of all other ingredients.

Bake 15-18 minutes or until dough is done. Serve immediately.

Some variations:

I like to add a teaspoon of garlic powder to the crust.

If you like lots of veggies, put them on top of the cheese or the water content keeps the crust soggy.

Double the dough recipe for 3 large thin crust pizzas or one cookie sheet sized bread style pizza.

If I think of anything else, I'll come back and add it.
