will be distroyed in the morning. All my brugs are in bloom. Why is it that they all decide to go into bloom right before a freeze? Here's some pixs.

All my pretty blooms
Wow, that's quite a show you got there! I keep wondering if I brought mine into the house too prematurely . . . .
Victoria
Daisy, your photos are really pretty. Looks like they love you as much as you love them.
Oh you poor thing! I can't imagine having to cut them ALL down.. They are beautiful, your yard is nice too!
You have great brugs, Daisy! Anyway you can cover them with sheets to prolong the show for a few days?
It is getting way too dark. When my husband gets home from work and we immediately take off for our walk and it is already so dark. One of the biggest motivators to get me to walk, was being able to peek at everyone's yard as I walked by.
You have such a beautiful yard Daisy!! No pics of Rambo? How is my large friend? Still wanting a bite of me Im sure lol! I wish I would have had more time to walk thru your yard. You have so many lovely plants.
Caren
looks beautiful Daisy. Maybe they won't all freeze. Mine usually hang on through a couple of freezes unless we get frost then it zaps all the leaves
Such pretty plants and flowers. I'll keep my fingers crossed the cold skips over you tonight.
Flowerjunkie,
Looks like you have them in ground. Do you cut them back to the ground after it freezes?
Just wondering because, next spring I want to plant my first brugs out in my yard.
Yall have made a brug junky out of me!
Good Luck with all of your beautiful plants tonight.
Mary
Your yard is so pretty.! Thanks for sharing all those photos.
Bea
Ladies,
I was spared!!! The front yard has frost on the grass an all my lovely tropicals. But the back yard has none. The back yard is almost 100% shade and I'm sure the few leaves left on the trees has saved my blooms. None of the brugs look like they've been zapped. I have another repreave. LOL. When i get back today I will check them again to make sure.
Mary,
I plant all my brugs in the ground. I cut them all down before our first real freeze. I then put the huge cutting, some are 7 - 8 foot tall, in large 5 gallon pots. I put the pots against the fence under a huge cypress tree canopy. They will root in these containers. If we should get a freeze before I know they have rooted I will move the monster rooted cutting into the shade house where I keep all my tropical and rarer brugs. The rare ones never go into the ground unless I have two or three back up rooted plants in pots. Last year was the first year I attempted leaving all my brugs in pots under this cypress tree and simply threw plastic and blankets over them. They kept from freezing. So I will do the same this year. In the spring I stand my blooming potted plants right by thier originals roots so I'll have blooms while the stumps grow back to form thier own Y's and bloom. In the fall I have a huge plant sale in conjunction with the neighborhood garage sale. I sell these monster brugs for almost nothing. I have to get rid of them because first frost I will have more. It seems that by doing this you produce more shoots which you will have to cut when shaping your brug into a canopy. I prefer the canopy vs a shrub.
Which btw...'everlasting' seems to sprawl all over the place. Does everyone have this problem with it??? There is no making her into a canopy. In addition it seeds readily without intervention. I have no idea who the little hussy has been fooling around with. Super Nova, Coral Glow or Sun Ray are the closes too her, but I really think it must be Super Nova with its huge blooms...how can a girl resist.... If anyone wants seeds from her last little fling...please let me know as she is setting seed as we speak. I hope the pods don't fall off with this cool weather. I gave Nadine (Moodene) her first pods, I'm sure she will do well with them...I am awful with seeds, they never get past the 2 inch size :-( so I gave up on trying to grow any out.
Caren,
Any time you want to come visit just let me know. Mi casa es tu casa! I asked Rambo if he would bite he said he was insulted that you would be afraid of such a handsome guy so that's why he barked. He will be nicer too you next time. Here's a photo, he's camera shy!
Lucky you. The frost got mine a long time ago. Your plants sure are loaded with blooms. I would be sick to lose them at this stage of the game. I'm glad they were spared and hope you escape frost for some time yet.
Brugie,
So sorry you lost your blooms. I hate winter! It just seems that when everything gets as beautiful as it can be the very next day we get a freeze! Not fair. I do plan to retire in my home town of San Juan, Texas. The weather there is perfect for tropicals and brugs. I will have a perfect yard always. My water bill will be high in the summer months, but its a small price to pay for year round beauty.
Daisy
Daisy,
I love all your blooms, and thank goodness they didn't get frozen!! I'd be happy to send postage and try some of your "hussy" seeds.
Sharon
stownes,
I didn't get a chance to check on my brugs this afternoon so have no clue if the pods survived. I'll check on them in the morning and will let you know when to send the stamps.
Daisy
Thanks for the info Daisy.
Your brugs are beautiful. Praying that I will be as blessed with beautiful blooms next year.

I would like to try some seeds if you get any from this last fling. It is always fun to try and see what one gets.
Bea
stownes & mommum,
You can both have some seeds. I just checked on the pods. There seems to be 5 pods forming. We had frost again last night but the Brugs were not affected by it. If they don't freeze before they are ready I will let you now and can send postage at that time.
Kell,
Any great ideas to make sure these pods don't freeze? Nadene (Moodene) has some cute bloom protectors made out of netting. I'm thinking if something like that might work?
Daisy
