Gingerrose: That is a Beautiful Epi!! Do you know what the name of that one is? If you are really, really disappointed ... you could send it to Florida .... I'd give it a good home! LOL.
I didn't even know they came in that color .... Pink is my favorite color, so I would love to know the name of that one! If you ever take cuttings, keep me in mind .... would love to trade!

Gingerose:
Look forward to Spring and Trading!! Just let me know what you'd like and I will be glad to trade for a cutting or two of your beautiful orchid cactus! Do you have a trade list? I see from your info that you are a cactus fan! Many years ago I had a HUGE collection of Desert Cactus, but got tired of all those darn thorns, so I gave them all away! I do have a Ric Rac Cactus that has some little thorns, but not too bad like some cacti. I remember back in the early 70's I bought a couple of pacets of cactus seeds, thinking they probably wouldn't germinate and sprout, but they did and got to be about 2" tall, and then we went out of town for a week and didn't realize it was going to get so cold here in Daytona and we had a hard freeze that killed them! I am not a fan of cactus with thorns! I got stuck too many times! I had a beautiful HUGE Golden Barrell Cactus many years ago .... had it for years, it was so heavy, it took two people to lift it! It was stolen from the front of our house! The pot it was in was worth more than the cactus, so that really made me mad! Anyhow, I now prefer nicer, softer plants without anything that jabs me! LOL. Love most of the Epi's cause they don't have thorns, at least I don't think any of them do.
So, keep me in mind for a spring trade, ok? I have lots of different plants, so you might be interested in something in my collection!
Lin
Thanks Lin will keep you in mind..But right now Im enjoying cool weather..then when it gets COLD..It's come on Spring..lol..I like cactus but I have soo many Im thinking about stop collecting so many of then ..I love any kind of plants ..if I dont have a certain kind then I love to trade...
It's 44 degrees here in Daytona Beach right now, 8:40 p.m. !! I wonder what the low will be around 6 O'clock tomorrow morning?! It's predicted that we will have 38 as our low tonight! Too early for temp's that low in my area! I'm enjoying a nice fire in the fireplace, but I sure hope it's the only one I have this year!
I don't mind cool weather, but I don't like it when it's below 45-50! Unfortunately, every few years we have a very cold winter! We have had real mild winters the past few years, so I guess we are past due for the cold temperatures! Just hope we don't have frost or freezes! Saw on the news tonight that it was snowing in Charleston, SC! Wow! It's way too early for this!
Stay warm, y'all!

I wish I had something to trade!!! I only have one Epi, and it's never bloomed for me. It is supposed to be a pale pink, but since mistakes are made, who knows? It's huge compared to some I've seen, considering it's only 2 years old. I realize I can't possibly give it the "chill" it needs to bloom, which it gets naturally in zone 9. I don't have an unheated room/garage...
Tonight it is supposed to be 16 degrees! I only wish we had some snow!!
When every one came in to my shop was complaining about the squirels taking " every Pecan " off of the trees in mid summer I knew we were in for a very cold winter..These little flea bags have inside information
Jax if you have a episica thats 2 years old and huge ,your doing great ..lol.I tend to over water mine thats why I replant stolens all the time..pot up a sm piece for trade next spring..
Well ,got to get busy tomorrow is Thanks Giving Ive got to get things ready..Have a very wonderful Thanksgiving all...Faye
Jax, it may be 'Padre,' which is a pale pink and a huge grower, but it could be anything. If it is only two years old, then it will probably bloom for you next spring. Cuttings often take two years from initial rooting to flower, and sometimes they take three years. I don't think it is the chill that helps epi's to bloom in the spring. I think that the reduced light plus the increased light signals them to bloom and that proper nutrition influences flowering more than anything else. The reason that I think that epi's don't need a chill to bloom is because plenty of people bring theirs indoors for the fall and winter and put them out in the spring, and they bloom just fine, but I am not the one to ask about this. Ursula knows more than I do about them.
