Randa(and her DH, Aaron)
Hope this is the right spot...
Randa and Aaron you guys need to get the attention of DMJ1218. PATROB and SMOCKETTE. They are around your area I think. and they are really knowledgeable too. Dmail them a link to this thread.
Sylvia
Hi Sylvia..I can dmail them..but they are further up north of us...Magnolia is not far from Conroe..We had a lake house on Lake Conroe up until a couple of years ago..You think even though they are not in our same zone they could still help? It would be great. Let me know when you can..Thanks for your help!
Randa
Randa they are up and around the Houston area, isnt that where the coast is? LOL Dont pay any attention to me, I flunked Georgaphy! LOL but still they are the people to talk to. I am in Dallas and I grow Hostas and they say they say they have a problem growing them, except for Pat. Try them anyway.Tell em I told you to. lol
Sylva
Hi Sylvia..I sent DMJ1218 a dmail. I checked out the website and his info..He sounds like he really knows his stuff!!!(she?)..And well, yeah..Houston is sorta on the coast..We are further south.Just about 20 minutes north of Corpus Christi! I know your area fairly well..I have family there..Anyway..you are a sweetie for helping me and I do appreciate ya! I am gonna hit the hay for now..but trust me..My computer gets fired up and my DG website brought up before I even START to make the first pot of coffee!! LOL!
Thanks again!
Randa
Randa it is a she. she is Debbie. lol actually they are all girls and really nice people.
Its not too late for all kinds of lettuces and carrots--you can put broccoli transplants out but watch them for bolting--they do a bit better in the fall.
What is bolting? I heard someone use that term before.
go to seed Sylvia. =)
I resemble that remark. LOL
~Just wandering around the garden. Do you have size or water restrictions?
You should flag down Trois, he's right on the coast due south of Houston and I bet he has good advice for your neck of the woods too. Check out any of his threads and you'll see what I mean. ~Blooms
I resemble that remark too! =)
I've met Trois at Roundups--I am farther north than he is though.
I think he's about 20 feet above sea level... LOL
he certainly has varied plantings. I figured along the coast would be the same, prety much.
Trois, Calalily and AngelSong are all farther down the coast and would be great references for you!
Marylyn--the only reason I responded here is that I was specifically dmailed and asked to respond here.
Hey, if you're looking at a big map Houston looks real close to the ocean. giggle
LOL! I I appreciate your input Debbie!! Broccoli is my grandsons favorite! I told someone, at some time..on here? We are quite a ways south of Houston..but I forget..Been busy with my 2 yr old grandson as his baby sister has been in the hospital for a week recently! My ole brain just aint what she used to be!..Anyway..we are 11 feet above sea level and are not restricted to size or water. The water will be well water..saves on the usage of the city water. In fact, my DH and I are thinking of making it a community garden! We have spoken with 3 of the nearby neighbors and all are interested, but like us, have not gardened down here before! The only local is out of town..Hopefully she will be home in a week or less. I am taking names..from yall!!!..and will contact any and all who you think can help! Any of yall ever done a community garden? I can sort of figure out the basics..but how exactly, do ya do it..and be fair? Regardless if it works out to be a community garden or not..We will put one in! So, please..keep the info coming!! Thanks a bunch yall!
