Easy Dessert - Cheese Squares

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

I wasn't a member yet when the dessert contest was held. (Tons of GREAT recipies, by the way - thanks!) Anyway, here is an easy one to make ahead and it keeps well for several days. Nice alternative to those who don't want to fuss with pies.

Crust:
2 large tubes of crescent rolls.
Lay out 1 package in a greased 9x13 pan. Seal perforations and spread out to cover bottom of pan.

Filling:
2 8-oz. cream cheese, softened
1 egg yolk
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix thoroughly. Spread over crust. Top with second package of crescent rolls. Again, seal perforations and spread out to sides of pan - works best to spread out before putting on top of filling.

Topping:
1 egg white
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Beat egg white til foamy. Spread on top of rolls. Sprinkle with sugar and nuts. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes until golden brown. Refrigerate.

Note: Keep well hidden because they have a tendency to disappear :)
