I got this plant and it is domant. How do I take care of it? Do I water, put it in a warm place or stick it in the garage and leave it alone? I appreciate any help. Elaine

Mine went dormant too, so will eagerly check this thread for a response.

Ric, did yours go dormant?

I googled the name and it says that it will be dormant, but I don't know whether to water it or just let it sit. I have it in the garage on a shelf where it does get some light but that's all I'm doing. Thanks for responding. Elaine

I let mine go dormant every year.
It likes to and as that's part of it's life cycle......who am I to mess w/ nature.....
(sorry I just got done watching 'House' so am a bit snippy. lol)

I usually pull it from the pot and replace the soil while it's dormant.
Stop all watering. Let it sit in a cool not cold area.
In March or so start watering and move it to a sunny warm area.
If the Tuber is large enough it will flower first.
Then.....

Oh thank you so much. The link is great so I see what it is suppose to do. I will be looking for March to come and the warm weather. Elaine

Thanks!
When I shot those I was doing a guess this plant thing w/ a group I run.

It's a very fun plant to grow.
If you're lucky you'll get Hitch-hikers in the Fall too....they are REALLY weird.

kamikid,
You could get away with planting this out in the yard next spring and letting it go dormant naturally in the ground, (id wait to plant it out till it warms up though). I know people in zone 7b that do this successfully, so it should be a cinch in your warm 8b.
