groundcover ideas

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I have a friend who is looking for a good ground cover for a wet area (gets hit by a couple sprinklers) in full sun. Any ideas?

Thanks, Kim

Frog fruit is great because it's drought tolerant and takes bad drainage, plus stays evergreen in the warmest zones. http://www.txsmartscape.com/plant_search/plant_photos/244-F.jpg Though it will take over everything.
Another one that I have heard about is Water Clover. http://www.sbs.utexas.edu/mbierner/bio406d/images/pics/mar/marsilea_macropoda.htm

Native Louisiana Phlox
Phlox divaricata 'Louisiana'

Phlox Louisiana Zones: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Louisiana phloxis a spring blooming woodland phlox that is evergreen and low growing with flowering stems usually up to 15 inches tall holding beautiful, soft blue flowers in mid-spring. The 1 inch flowers are held in 5 inch clusters and are quite strongly and sweetly scented - the perfect lure for early spring butterflies. This variety, 'Louisiana', grows 12 to 15 inches tall and wide, and flowers are a light purplish-blue with violet eyes and very full petals. Its foliage turns a nice burgundy in the winter. It is a must for the woodland wild garden in light shade/full sun and good, moisture retentive soil. They should naturalize by seed and spreading. Combines beautifully with every color of spring! Sheer after flowering to reinvigorate.

You can get them right down the road at ARE in Independence.
