Will a skunk....?

Littleton, CO

Will a skunk drag a chicken away? What do coons usually do?
I'm trying to figure out what type of varmit got my girls.
Last night I locked them up tight, used a baby monitor to listen for any critters. That worked great. I also hung a 250 watt light over a tree next to the coop, and had a remote control set up to it, and I turned it on from upstairs, when any racket started.
The critter left my hens alone last night, but drug one of the dead hens across the yard. Looks like it tried to get it beyond a gate, but just left it there.
I put the injured hen in a cage inside, but not sure if I should do anything to the wounds. Will it fill in where the skin is gone???
What do you all think?

I put some antibotic cream on my chicken's wounds..it won't hurt them...

Thanks again.

I just said the same thing in the other thread lol. Great minds Moodene.

Skunks do just eat the heads and leave the bodies. So do racoons most times. Again good luck I hope it works out for you.

Why in the world would it eat the head and nothing else? I mean, if I were a predator/scavenger I think I'd go for the more tender and protein-filled bits.

Then again, I doubt I'd opt for mercaptin eau de toilette as a defense mechanism, either.
