starfly,
Showoff!*G* Wonder when it'll show it's variegation and if it'll have as much as the pictured on the Bluebird webpage?

Yes P, that one is amazing and Bluebird's photo is what got me hooked!

Pow Wow is one of my favorites and I never could get hold of one, then finally did, off ebay I believe and the sucker died within a month. It was probably something I did, that was back when I was regularly killing AVs I'd been covetting, but oh well.

Starfly your's is just beautiful! You grow 'em pretty!

april,

I've added to my spring order list so maybe I can get my sweaty lil paws on it and get some more plants going to share.

I have a funny story about this one. Mom and I went to an AV show last year about this time. People were putting AVs in boxes and setting them on the floor while they continued to look around. Mom spotted what turned out to be "Pow Wow" in some ladies box, and almost took it. The lady came and claimed her box and Mom asked around only to find out that was the only "Pow Wow" at the show. I thought she was going to bumrush the lady and tear a leaf off, but I managed to restrain her. She kept pouting though, so this past September, I made sure I was the first person at the USF Botanical Gardens' Gesneriad sale. I couldn't remember what "Pow Wow" looked like other than dark red blooms. I forgot it was variegated, until I finally found one. I claimed it as mine, and Mom now has her "Pow Wow". Here is a pitcure of it. It's not in bloom, but I know you mentioned wanting to see the variegation. I thought the one on the Bluebird webpage was rather strange; the variegation on Mom's is much more uniform.

Bluebird variegation was probably a fluke and they used the pix to drive plant freaks like me into a feeding frenzy.Works every time*G*

My daughter use to hate to go into a resturant w/ me because I'd be tsk-tsk-tsking over the lack of care of plants. Now they all use silks and I tsk-tsk-tsk over the ammount of dust on the darn things.

I think I'd help your mom "jack' that lady for some leaves. I'll hold her while your mom nips off couple of leaves a piece for us...LOL Thelma and Louise but I ain't driving off no cliff.

You guys are a riot- now my plan would have been to accidently knock a leaf or two off and then act like I didn't see that as an issue, "Here let me help you clean up this debris!"

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

Wow, I need to take you guys with me to shows! No one would stand a chance. It was weird how intense everyone was, but then again, I get that way about bromeliads. I think all the gesneriads are so pretty, it's hard for me to decide which ones I want (ideally, all of them!). So even if I missed out on one, I'm sure I'd be happy with another one. Mom's a different story though...we've spoiled her.

oh april, your too nice...ya gotta clothesline, atomic drop or body slam 'em...LOL...my hub's watches too much 'rastlin.

I've never been to a show.In fact I can't ever remember there ever being any plant shows in my neck of the woods.
Hmmmmm...mayb I should organize on at the Y.Where can I find info on how to go about that?

We have an annual garden swap but I think the most we've had attend was like 30.

Starfly and Mellielong, you both have useful pictures representing the capabilities of Pow wow, could you submit them to PlantFiles?

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

James,
Sure! I kind of went "duh" when I read that. Sometimes we just need reminded. : )

Exactly. I fancy myself a courageous freelance reminder-er for PF.
Your picture betrays exactly what you wrote- a consistent variegation.
