I learned just recently that the plant I have is Paliavana tenuiflora, which is a Gesneriad (I think- it is closely related to Sinningia), but I noticed that it is not in PlantFiles. I was hoping someone could help me make an entry for it?
[I'm afraid I will completely forget it's name unless I make an entry and comment in it!]
I've made entries for plants before, but I was always able to rely on copying & pasting the Family name from other entries, and from using other websites' combined info on the plants. But for the Paliavana tenuiflora, I haven't been able to come up with much info.

Paliavana tenuiflora
I just put in a request that they add it.
It's a plant from Brazil.

Thanks Keyring! :)
lol, all I could remember about it since I got it was that it was a Brazilian plant... I do know how it grows, though, since I've had mine in the ground a few years now.

Gina_Rose,
I am so glad you asked about your Paliavana as it gave me the opportunity to see yet another unique and interesting gesneriad I had never heard of before.
You're very welcome :)
I have no idea if this can be grown inside, but I'd be happy to send cuttings for postage someday if anyone would like to try it. My favorite aspect of this gesneriad is that I can spray the leaves all I want... The AVs and Gloxinias are beautiful, but I hate bottom-watering for some reason! Plus, the little frogs who live beneath the pots don't like to be disturbed. ;)~

Wow,That IS really different and unique looking.I had never heard of it before. Thanks! : ) nancy
Oh how nice...yes, I would love to try some cuttings.
Ok, I'll pick up some rooting hormone; I've tried rooting in a mix of perlite, peat moss & vermiculite before, but that hasn't worked for anything except chrysanthemum cuttings yet.
I'll let you know when it's ready :)
Gina,
Why not just make some cuttings and put in zip lock baggie. You don't have to bother rooting them. I so appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Think they would survive a trip in baggies? I can send them whatever method you'd like... my only experience has been receiving cuttings or plants, with soil & roots wrapped in plastic. I've never sent before; you'll be like my trial-run. :)
Why not give it a try? I think cuttings should do fine. So much easier too. Great!
Check your d-mail :))
