Martha Would Not Approve,

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

most likely, of having Rosemond in my living room, but... oh well!
I stripped off all her leaves when I moved her inside last month but just couldn't stand to remove the last bud. It was only 2" long and I figured it would drop long before maturing.
As you can see, it hung in there and matured and opened up yesterday to show just WHY I love her best. I can smell her, too! Woo Hooooo...

Gorgeous! If only she would bloom all winter indoors.

That's so pretty!! Brings a smile to your face when everything outside is so sad, doesn't it?
I've got tiny, tiny buds on Whiskers and EDW now, it would be so nice to have some brug bloom cheer in about a month. :)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

What a beautiful Picture Barb! I think Martha would be green with envy!
Congrats!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

wow! that's gorgeous...

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

Beautiful, wish I had blooms in the house the only one I brought in that had three buds has dropped them.

Oh my goodness, look at that, a PINK brug bloom fits right in with fine crystal. Just gorgeous. And she is so dark for you too inside. Just a gorgeous picture, Barb.

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

LOL Thanks everyone. My two passions all wrapped up in one picture.. flowers and crystal. So long as I have flowers and rainbows (thus the crystal), there's not a lot to complain about. When this one folds its petals for the long winter's nap, at least there is the promise of blooms to come in Spring. That, I believe Martha would say, is a GOOD thing!!

Barb

Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

It is so hard to put them all to bed with all these buds still on them. Iremember last year they did the same thing. A Whiskers cross must have had over 70 blooms a month after getting in the GH, That's sure a pretty bloom & worth bringing in! Who cares what Martha thinks. She doesn't live there & that IS a good thing!

Martha would have made the brugmansia herself from DNA she just happened to have in her craft room. Then she would have handpainted the stems of that Brugmansia in gold leaf, and painted the walls an exact match to the Pink of the Brugmansia.

LOL - Us normal folks will just barely pick up the dead leaves when they fall off.

Pretty!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Nice Barb.
LOL Mary.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

A friend sent me a Martha Doesn't Live Here sign to put by my front door. And boy is she right. Sadly Martha has not even visited here. LOL Mary!

Oh Barb, I love crystal also. I used to love silver but it took too much work. I must have 100 crytstal vases. I never saw one I didn't love. LOL

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Barb, the picture is relly nice...crystal and brugs, now that is a great combination. I love the Swarovski, but the leaded I see in the photo looks beautiful! Reminds me of Waterford.
Lol, Mary and Kell.

PS
I need a "Martha's Not Welcome Here" sign.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Jackie. Too good.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Oooh, that's pretty, I love the brug with the crystal, they compliment each other nicely!! Our Golden won lotz of 'crystal', heavy, but not cut, which is my fav and I have all my folks, plus my own. I gave the folks cut glass and here it is back with me. Silver? All packed n covers, except my folks silver, which we use daly, no use packing it away and we love it, and I send it through the dishwasher and it doesn't tarnish it.

Barb, who is your pretty pink girl??

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

It's so nice to still see blooms this time of year.
Beautiful picture and beautiful bloom Barb.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice bloom and in color too. That's great. I love the crystal. I have a cutting that is rooting in a Waterford vase right now.

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

Just wanted to come back and say thanks again for all your very nice comments. Rosemond is wide open tonight and gorgeous. The pic made forum photo of the day for yesterday!! Neat, huh.
Kell, your LAxEP #5 is resting quietly in the bubbler, but it has a tiny little bud at the very top of the Y. Just doesn't want to give up.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

How do you find the picture of the day. Congratulations on your picture being chosen.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I found it without any help. Congratulations again. Keep that camera handy.

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

Thanks. I tried to take a pic tonight but it says my battery is exhausted... poor thing.. maybe I should let it rest! ;)

Barb

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL. I have been taking pics too. I know soon it will be too dreary for pics!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Kell, you and Barb at least have something to take pictures of. Poor Jim hasn't gotten anything. Not even any crystal. LOL

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Barb, is your Rosamond scented?? I have two, identical, from two different friends, and they have no scent!! You think it's a zone thing, I'm 8a and mine is blooming (outside) or was yesterday, and we are big into fragrance and they had zero...

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I am trying to remember but 1 of them, Pink Beauty or Rosamond has no scent and I think the other does. I think way back some one posted that is how you can tell them apart. I was never 100% sure which was which. When I planted my Pink Beauty in the ground it seemed to produce flowers as big as my so called Rosamond.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Pink Beauty is lightly scented, but the Rosamonds I have are not sented. I will say this, to further confuse, lol, my Rosamonds are not scented but they don't have an unpleasant smell and some do. Rosamond's no scent, smells 'fresh'...

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

Sherry, let me preface this with telling you my "sniffer" doesn't work well.. too many years of allergy attacks and sinus infections added to chronic use of nose spray to alleviate the symptoms of those maladys. That said, I think you described her scent perfectly! It is not so much a fragrance, really.. like baby powder or citrus or floral, but it is definitely a FRESH smell. I took a good whiff again this morning before I left for work and it is still notable. She is so, so gorgeous! I don't have Pink Beauty, so I can't compare.
Kell, I grew her as a standard because of you and I am so glad I did!!!

Barb

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I wish yours did have a scent, Barb!!! If it did, I would be begging for a cutting, I would love a scented Rosemond, she loves it here and bugs don't bother her, but she will wilt in the HOT weather....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Barb. I think you will find Rosamond as a standard easier too. I had one in the ground and it just took over, way too big. With standards you can really control them and end up with a gorious PINK lollipop.

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

My Rosamond has scent, but it's light. You don't smell it ten paces away like some of the brugs - you have to come in close and lift the bloom. It bloomed nicely in the Spring, but was not pleased with our summer.
Mary

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

Same here regarding the wilt factor. When it first started getting really warm, she began to be the most wilted, the earliest in the day. When I saw that I moved her right next to the house so she got morning sun until barely Noon. From then on she was shaded by the house. She did have one bad time with the durned broad mites, but all the others with the exception of KBS were on death row because of them. Once she recovered from that, there was no stopping her.
The scent/no scent thing I couldn't really tell because she was surrounded by literally a hundred other blooms. It wasn't until I brought her inside that I could detect the "fresh" smell Sherry refers to. Mary, is that how you would describe the scent on yours?
This Brug is a winner for me, hands down. I'd have half a dozen full sized plants of her if I could.. maybe interspersed with a yellow.. and an orange.. a few whites.. KBS for sure.. a Golden Lady.. maybe good 'ol Insignis Pink cause she was my first.. ;)

Lol Barb you done fell in love?

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

Gosh, I'm not good at describing smells. To me she smells just like most of my brugs, only fainter. I'm looking forward to next spring for another flush. I may get a few blooms in the winter too, but nothing like spring.

Kittrell, NC(Zone 7b)

You did good, girlfriend! She is a beauty that's for sure!!

Melanie
