My name is BJ Gupton, my mom is Melanie. She wanted me to tell everyone what has happened. Last Wed. at 3:30 she had a head on collision. A man lost control of his truck and hit her head on. EMS had to cut her from the car. She also had my 16 year old sister with her and my 3 month old son. They were sitting in the back seat. My sister saw it coming and covered my son with her body. Mom had an angel sitting on her shoulder that afternoon.They should have been more seriously hurt. She is badly banged up, lots of cuts but not seriously hurt. My little boy only had two little cuts on his head from flying glass. But my sister is another matter. Because of what she did, she has a lot of internal bleeding and has been transfered to another hospital.
She wanted me to tell all of you this and asked for prayers for Jessica. And because she had several trades that she has made. Mary A is all she could remember at this time. She just doesn't want anyone to think she is a slacker.

God was most definitely with us last Wed. Yeah!!! We brought Jessica home yesterday! She still has a long way to go. Her injuries were a nicked kidney, swollen and bruised spleen and pancreas, and a blood pocket in her intestines. All these injuries were due to the seatbelt and what she did for the baby. She IS my hero!! I still can't walk, but that will come in time (due to knees and feet being jammed into the dash board).
Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. You just don't know how much they are appreciated!!

Oh my, that is so scary. I am so thrilled you all are going to be OK. Sounds like it will be awhile till your all recover. But looking at that car, God was sure watching over you 3.
meag it is wonderful to see you posting, I prayed so hard for you and your family, I was in a bad car accident so I know what it must have been like, and like you I was lucky, I went over a 5' embankment and through the windshield, at that time if I had been wearing a seat belt I would never have made it. Now don't jump into rushing around, take it easy so you can heal completely.
I will continue to pray for a full recovery for your Jessica.

So glad to hear from you! Have you and your family in my prayers...you were truly blessed to have made it through such a terrible accident. My daughter totaled her car when she was in her teens, icy patch and ran into a telephone pole, it cut the car in half on the passengers side...luckily noone was with her, she was on her way to work. She was not injured seriously and we know like you said, there were angels watching over her then! God Bless! Melanie is my daughter's name too. Jessica will remain in my prayers as well!

I was thinking of you again this morning as I woke up. It is so scary how your life can change in an instant. I hope you and your daughter are doing much better. I bet Thanksgiving at your house will be very special this year.
Kell, I am being very blessed this year. My oldest son is coming home from the Persian Gulf on Sat. On Tuesday, I will be grandmother again, another little boy who will be named Chance Manly (familiy names). The only downfall is I won't be able to be either places. I still can't walk, and can't sit for very long at the time. Jessica is doing so much better. Of course, being young is in her favor. I hope to have everyone together (all five children, spouses, and grandchildren)for the first time in fifteen years this Christmas. I thank God everyday, because the accident could have been so much worse!

Oh my, that is so fantastic that your boy is on his way home! He is one of our heroes! I bet you can't wait. How sad you can't meet him or go to your new grandson's birth. I sure hope Christmas is all you hope it will be and that you are feeling so much better. And to think you could have missed it all! Such an accident sure puts things in their proper perspective. Tends to make the smaller things not worth worrying about.
