Flowering in San Diego County 7-16-2006. Neobuxbaumia polylopha flowers once each year in mid-to-late July. This plant is about 6' tall and I have grown it for about 20 years. Bob :>)

Hi Kell,

Thank you for the comment.

we flood this one on its mound which is very porous 3 or 4 times a week with our normal injected fertilizer with ph 5.5 water this time of year and it flowers continually beginning the late June through October. The warmer it gets the more it flowers.. amazing plant...my favorite tree cactus. Grigsby's had a specimen that was about 15 feet tall (no branches) till a heavy wind broke it about 4 feet from its base in the mid 1980's.. the plant has never been the same.... it was a classic.

I do not know how you keep track of all your plants and give them such indiviualized care.

It grows to the point that some are neglected. But we hold our treasures close and take care of them. That close-in space is filled up!!..

We are beginning to donate some of our plants to charitable garage sales.

Cheers!
Bob
