Don't think it's a Monarch..who is he?

Hello all!
We were clicking some pictures of our gardening attempts and caught this fellow taking a sip at my lavender bush. I don't think it's a Monarch, but he was pretty anyway. Just starting into this world of gardening and butterfly attracting but I've enjoyed reading your posts and learning a bit about butterflies. We've planted some firebush, lavender and a patch of wild flowers which kind of fizzled out in the heat but we've noticed some yellow butterflies and then this fellow. Any idea who he is?

Maybe a frit? Here is a link to DG's bug file page. http://davesgarden.com/bf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=fritillary&searcher%5Bbugorder%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&Search=Search If you can't ID it here, post on the ID forum and someone will.
