Little Yellow yesterday
Too funny Donna...but congrats on the Little Yellow.
We get those by the gobs out here...but to tell you the truth I've never been able to photograph one with it's wings opened!!! They are such cute and dainty little buggers...it's almost hard to tell them apart from the Dainty Yellows and Mimosa Yellows if you're too far away - good thing I always have my papillion binocs with me!!!

Good shot, it's so cute with the brown on its wings.
Wow, no wonder it's called "little". The dents in the baggie are almost as big as it!
Cute, Nice Shots!
I have seen more yellow ones into the fall here too, all over the place. They are so fast though it is hard to get them to smile for the camera..
Awesome shots Donna!
I have lots of yellow ones. Does anyone know the host plant for these?
I'm assuming any species of Cassia are their host plant.
I saw something interesting yesterday. I saw the large sulphur return to my yard that was laying eggs on my little cassia the day before. This time, though, it was getting nectar from my Cape Honeysuckle flowers. Within a few seconds, there was a small flock of them. They seemed to be flying together and stopped to nectar on the flowers, then flew away. I didn't know they would flock together like that. Is that normal behavior for sulphurs? I didn't know they were social butterflies.

yes my Sulphurs all flock together feeding on my cupheas
Thanks Donna! That just makes me love the sulphurs that much more! Love the fact that they flock together and grace my yard with all that beautiful moving yellow! :-)
I still have tons of different sulphurs moving thru my backyard also. They really seem to love my Indigo Spires...while the black Swallowtails are enjoying my different lantanas...sooo pretty.. :) I've got so many different sorts that I can't name them all...from teeny tiny...to larger monarchs. :)
