heres another recently aquired plant. Hib. "old Medley" will change colors and size as the year goes by, right now its a small flowered deep brown, with a red eye. I almost missed this one, was on the backside of the plant on the bench. Most people don't like brown hibiscus , but they intrigue me so had to have a few.

Ya either luv it or hate it...
i don't know that I want a garden full of it, but anybody that fancies themselves as collector would want one. Anybody that likes the unusual would also want one.
I would.
I like the browns, and that one is very pretty! I have a "brown sugar", with brown/orange blooms that are just beautiful (especially with my orange-y daylilies). I've got a couple other brown babies ~ they are just so unusual. I planted brown tall bearded iris' too, so I just might be a color-weirdo, lol!
Personally I LOVE it!!! That is just gorgeous! I guess I am a "color-weirdo too amarantha LOLOLOL My only brown (so far) is Tiger's Eye. It is a lighter brown with a yellow and orange eye. It use to get lost against my house because my house was a similar brown color to it. We just painted it white so now it stands out much more :)

looking at this again makes me think of hibiscus dipped in chocolate. hmmmm. am I hungry?
I love it!!! Mamajack we need to get those meetings...PlantsAA...LOL I also love the brown iris! Something very "earthy" about them I guess. Nery, Chocolate....hmmm...I think I am hungry too...LOL
I kind of like it, different looking
I don't think I'm crazy about it..... If I lived in a warmer zone, I'd like it, just for it's uniqueness. Here in zone 5, I have to "limit" myself due to space and effort bringing them inside in fall. It would be very complimentary to pink.....(might know that was Kell suggesting pink, lol) reminds me of crepe paper.... Kind of looks like a frost got it.
I am not a big fan of the brown or bluish hibiscus but that one does look good enough to eat. It will be interesting to see what it looks like at the different times of the year and inside vs. outside, etc. Keep us posted Kyle.
I don't have any more room either but I would certainly walk up the street to see that in someone else's yard. I guess we can't have all the plants we want but wouldn't it be fun to have a section of your yard that had such different things that NOONE else had? And put it right near the street? Remember what happened in " LIttle Shop of Horrors " - everyone was flabberglasted - true it didn't end so well but for a time.........

I like it! I have brown iris, brown "blue eyed grass" and a few others with ginger colored blooms. You're right. people either love 'em or hate 'em.

Kyle, Old Medley is one of the prettiest varieties I've had. I lost mine, a grafted one, last Summer after giving me the first - and last - bloom.

Carlos I take cuttings and root them when I get grafted plants.I always lose grafted plants, never seem to lose the rooted ones though.
