Now I've done it...

I could resist no longer, and just placed my Dupont http://www.dupontnursery.com/ProductCategory.aspx?pcid=%206 order for six liners: Blackjack, Voodoo Magic (the one I'm most looking forward to), Orange Delight, Cajun Blue, Pride of Acadiana and Voodoo Queen. I should have six new babies by the end of this week, hurray!!!!! (LOL - like I NEED more baby hibiscus'...)

Those are really pretty ones! How exciting :-)

Yes, those do look very nice! I hope mine are like that too :-) I meant the 4" size for $10 each. I thought that's what "liners" were, just little babies. Sorry if I misunderstood liners....

So Crystal, which ones did you purchase??? I really had a hard time deciding which ones to get, they are all so beautiful! I've been wanting (especially) the Voodoo Magic and Pride of Acadiana for quite a while, but deciding on the other 4 was tough!

I think I got these about 3 weeks ago, not much more than that. They were very well packaged, took me a long time to get each one unwrapped. I did repot them about a week after I got them. I didn't have any leaves drop or turn yellow at all. They are a very nice growing size for the winter.

I placed an order at Hidden Valley - supposed to be here on Friday. I am so bad, I am ordering from everyone - just to see what who I like the best. Problem is - I love them all. I guess my addiction could be worse, lol.

Today, I went to Walgreens and bought a cool mist humidifier and put it in the sunroom. Figured it could use a little more humidity. I was told to mist the Hibiscus daily - so I am. At Home Depot today I found a battery operated sprayer that connects to a gallon milk jug. No more hand fatigue. So, I just walk around and spray everything a couple times a day. Just sharing!

Edited to say that the spray was on sale 2.99 - so everyone should get one.

I want them all, but I went for Sassy Girl, Black Dragon, C'est Bon, Curly Top, Cosmic Dancer and Pride of Acadiana. It was a hard decision. I think I neeeeeeed more. LOL

What a cool idea for a mister. Was it in the garden dept. at Home Depot? I have to go there to pick up some cactus potting mix anyway, I'll look and see if they have this in Southern California. LOL about hand fatigue, I get that too. In addition to misting my plants, I have to mist our vivarium a couple times per day too (tree frogs and anoles).

So, which babies did you get? All of the other babies I have (besides these that I just ordered) have come from Hidden Valley ~ two via the mail, and the rest from their open houses. So far, I've purchased from Hidden Valley (great), Touch of the Tropics (great) and exotic-hibiscus (not as great). This will be my first from Dupont, and looking at your babies, I'm even more excited!

We got different ones, so it will be fun showing the pics once they start blooming. I came *this* close to getting Cosmic Dancer too, and I've got a large Black Dragon planted in my yard - you're gonna love that one, it's definitely one of my very favorites.

The sprayers were near the bug sprays. They were at the end of an isle, by the bigger outdoor sprayers. They were in one of those plastic sealed packages that are hard to open (lol, I hate those). I'll take a pic of it tomorrow and post it on here. If you can't find one, let me know. I can pick one up for you if you want. The thing is awesome!

I've ordered from hidden valley, which by the way crystal, their doing alot better now. seem to be jumping right out of their shipping mishap

and I haven't received mine from exotic hibiscus yet. I wish they would get some cajuns, I like that 5.00 price tag onthem.

Yeah I told you, about the plants tossed about the box, one broke in half, etc... etc...

I planted the broken off one, I never heard a word back from them either. I hate that, but life goes on I guess, i'm sure they will be fine. even the broken one will come around. no leaf drop after I potted them up. they had leaves tossed about int he box though.

So tell me about that link, above? can't seem to find any hibiscus there. I know I can hear those hibiscus babies calling my name too. LOL

Is exotic hibiscus the only place to buy liners?

Oh, good. I like both groups. I mostly read and learn. Most of the people on there have been growing for a long time and really know their stuff. I can't wait to do a cross and get to name my own flower. That would be awesome. The people who own the sites that we buy from post on those forums. Mostly on THML.

Have you all ever rooted in rockwool cubes? was just wondering if so, where do youget them where you don't have to buy a whole case of them.

I don't have any of those. Good choices. Now, when they are all grown up - we'll trade. Oh, and don't forget about hybridizing. Take a little yellow and put it on another colored flower. Poof - hopfully babies will form. I have been told that each seed from the pod can be different colors. We'll have all sorts of grand colors.
