I just posted these photos of my "emergency" in bloom since there were none in the plantfiles. I see my comments there but not the photos. Is there an approval process for the photos to get posted? How long does it take? I haven't posted photos before.
Emergency
Yes, I think photos get subjected to a quick verification check before being added to the PF database... I think the time delay also lets admin make sure you didn't accidently upload a photo of your Great-Aunt Eliza in the altogether rather than the plant photo you (hopefully!) intended. :-)
Gorgeous bloom -- I love that edge!
Drooling!
What a beautiful plant! So many gorgeous AV's everyone out there owns! I want one of each of them! LOL
I have about 8 or 10 AV'S, none named! Didn't keep the tags when I purchased them! But, I'm learning! Since joining Dave's I've decided to research and name and label each and every one of the plants in my household! It will take quite awhile, as I have Many, Many houseplants!

I'm new to DG too, but have posted a couple of plant photo's myself, and yes, it does take a bit of time before they show up. If you go to the top of the screen and click on "My info" it should show you somewhere that you have 2 photo's pending!

Beautiful flower an the underside of the leaves too! Very nice.
I have leaves for propagation (in return for postage) if anyone wants.
That bloom is amazing, I love all a/v's with the edge.

beautiful plant!
Looks like Optimara "Jamaica"
Nice plant. Hopefully your pictures will show up on PF soon.
Hi Jan
Been thinking of you ! Bob posted a picture of his Mexican Sunflower from cutting you gave him Stunning ! We had a tree back couple years ago when moved did not take a cutting. Can you please spare another cutting !! ??
I can get one from the friend I got his from. Mine is still potted and pretty small yet.
Oh wow cool Thanks Jan :))
Maybe I'll have something you would like, Begonia cutting, Plumeria or something :))
No I'm fine. Just came back from a round up in Gainesville and have a new truckload of plants to unload so I'll be busy for some time. LOL I'll let you know when I get the cuttings.
Thanks Jan ! You have to see our new garden bed came out so pretty . The old onwers of new home filled them with rocks.
We had a nursery come they made a neat shaped curved garden bed and trans-planted two large Plumeira trees, red hibicus in middle for color, small Plumieras I got cuttings from Bob in spring, Peace plant, Yellow and red Crown of Thorns, Begonis, Irene Nuss is at least 2 feet tall happy even with her trans-plant , Elephant ears, , several types of Bromelaids, and some other. We just took cuttings of the Colues . In Spring we hope to have them do another bed as we have three left that need to be done.but will have to get more plants . :)) But have lots of seeds to have fun with. I got a lot of cool seeds from out of the Country from Usela ( cant spell) when she was selling them for a good cause. These will be a lot of fun !
Budgielover, I would love a leaf of your plant. It is beautiful. I will send postage. Please let me know when and how much. I see your pictures are in plant files.
Kami,
The first plant posted is not my plant. I have the optimara jamaica.
Kamikid, I can send you leaves from this plant. I think 3 stamps should do it. I'm in the address file.

It's cool how those two blooms have such similar form and edging! 'Emergency' is a red bloom, I think, and 'Opt. Jamaica' is more pink... ?
Your right....Emergency is RED, no trace of pink that I can see.
Jamaica is more burgandy.
Oh, I see. The Optimara site calls it pink, but I looked it up in FC and the official description says red.
Optimara Jamaica (8951) 01/31/2001 (Holtkamp) Single-semidouble red/white frilled edge. Medium green, plain, heart-shaped, glossy, hairy, scalloped/red back. Standard
It sure would be hard to tell those two apart without labels! I guess the leaf form is a little different, but the only leaf criterion that doesn't seem variable to me is "red back" (and they both have that).
I'm still loving that white edge -- on both of them!
