I came across Caldwell Nursery in Rosenberg, Texas while doing a search for philodendrons. They are not listed in Garden Watchdog. Does anyone have any information regarding the quality of their plants or personal experience with them? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Any input on this nursery?

I have actually shopped there, in person and I have to tell you I had mixed feelings. It was at the end of the season last year and I was not impressed w/ how everything looked, although some of their stuff looked great. I chalked it up to end of season. Everything I bought there did very well so no complaints. They have been closed for the past few weeks and I was planning on going yesterday, only to find they are closed on Sundays. I am hoping to go today, but it looks like another rainy day. If I do go I will let you know how it looks now.

I have dealt with Kay Dee at Caldwells only for the past 4 years when I stumbled upon it. I love the way she has every thing laid out. The reason that somethings don't look so good is that she does not PUMP them up with fertilizer steroids like other places. That way, when you get them home, they will continue to grow and not go into withdrawal's. I have never had a plant from her die off but grow up great.
Love the place and Kay Dee's knowledge is immense.
PS: She only talks in "Latin" terms, so research the botanical name of what you want first.
Thanks for the information. The philodendrons on the site are beautiful. Any idea if they ship plants or only sell plants at the nursery?
They are a great nursery--they don't do mail order--that's why they are not in the garden watchdog.
I was afraid they did not do mail order. They certainly have some lovely plants.

april is correct. And speaking about my experience, I can't say enough good things about Katy and her nursery.
In reading the comments over I hope that no one thought I was saying anything negative about Caldwells.
I did buy several things there and as I said, they did well. I would have gone back before this, but it's not the most convenient for me and I tend to forget it's there; however, that I am planning on going back should say something.
